Getting engaged to marry the love of your life is one of the most exciting things that can happen. You can’t wait to have the perfect day, surrounded by the people that you care about the most, celebrating your union. However, the excitement soon turns to stress when you think about planning your big day. Where are you even supposed to begin?

Although it can seem stressful, planning your wedding isn’t as difficult as it may seem if you go the right way about it. Here are the main things to consider.

The venue

One of the most important things to consider is the venue, and the location of your wedding. Whilst some people like to go a bit further afield and have a wilder wedding (we’re talking Vegas…) others prefer to be closer to home, so that all of their friends and family members can get there with ease. Whatever you decide to do, pick out a venue that you know will be great for your big day; whether it’s a church to reflect your beliefs, or something a bit less generic!

The theme

Whilst it can seem like having a ‘themed’ wedding is for those with specific interests, it’s important for any wedding to have a rough theme. Perhaps you want to go for a more bohemian style, or you’d like to make your big day more traditional? Think about the look that you want to go for, as this will influence all of the decisions that you make afterwards; from the flowers, right down to the table centerpieces. What style really defines the interests that you and your partner share?

The entertainment

No wedding is complete without the entertainment to follow the ceremony, and you need to be sure that you’ve chosen something that will create a great night for you and your guests. Perhaps you want to opt for one of Alive Network’s wedding bands, or maybe you’d like to go old school and get a DJ to provide the soundtracks for your big day. Whatever you choose, ensure that the entertainment will be perfect for what you and your fiance are into, and don’t be afraid to avoid convention.

The attire

When you look back on your wedding photos in years to come, you’re going to want to think that the style of the outfits is timeless, and that you all looked great. Choosing a wedding dress is arguably the hardest thing that you will do, but when you put the right one on, you’ll just get that feeling. Think about what you want your bridesmaids to wear, and also what look your fiance is going to opt for. Keeping everything in a certain style may be the answer, but it’s totally up to you!

So, if you don’t know where to begin with your wedding planning, then focus on these pivotal things and you’ll soon be on your way to having the perfect big day organized. Make sure that you go with what you want, and you’ll remember your wedding forever!
