Something New At Stage Cosmetics

Three days after the newly refurbished Stage Cosmetics opened at MidValley, I spotted something new displayed right at their entrance. It’s a range of Goldberry Himawari cosmetics comprising of compact foundation )with sunscreen), lip glosses, lipsticks, blush and eyeshadow palettes.

When I swatched the eyeshadows, they offered excellent colour pay-off albeit on the almost OTT shimmery side. For goodness sake, even the highlighter shades had shimmer in them. Nevertheless, I was inexorably drawn towards the palettes, the brownish-gold toned palette in particular but alas, that one was sold out. They’d been available even before the store was closed for renovation apparently. My second choice was the green toned palette but I already had too many green eyeshadow palettes.

What was I to do? I felt like I had to get my hands on the brown toned palette so I made a beeline to Tropicana City Mall where the other Stage Cosmetics outlet is located. If it wasn’t available there, I’d have to ask my friend to have a look at their outlet at Queensbay Mall, Penang.

All the eyeshadow palettes were still available at their Tropicana outlet so I swatched to my heart’s content. There was also far too much shimmer in the blush palettes, one was pink and the other orange toned. The very nice and helpful makeup artist informed me that I could apply 2 colours in the palette at a time, e.g. 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 (please see pic below).

The combinations work rather well, I was especially liking #3 and #4 colours. They weren’t powdery and they apply really easily with either fingers or brush. My only complaint would be that all the shades are shimmery. Sometimes one can do with a bit of matte.

Anyway, I changed my mind. After going all the way to Tropicana City Mall dead-set on getting the brown toned palette, I ended up with the green palette. I’ve really got to break free of my inclination towards green eyeshadows. All the palettes only have numbers and no names. The green palette is #15.

My 2 looks with the green palette:-

The rest of the eyeshadow palettes and their swatches:-

The eyeshadow palettes are formulated in Japan and contain 4 types of Gemstone Powder (tourmaline, Ruby, Sapphire, Amethyst) which makes me wonder whether they came from the same manufacturers of Cyber Colors. The ingredients sound more or less the same.

All 5 shades can of course be used together and there is a diagram on the reverse of the box indicating how they are to be placed on the eyelid. However, I have not used the highlighter shadow as I prefer highlighters which aren’t quite so shimmery. It’s a bit too much, in my opinion.

The 2 Shiny Face Color (11g) which are quite sheer but again, shimmer galore:-

The eyeshadow palettes are 4g/RM48. The other products in this range are also RM48 save for the Shiny Face Color and Compact Foundations SPF25++ which are RM88. I understand that their outlet at Tropicana City Mall will be closed by the end of November and the only Stage Cosmetics outlet in the Klang Valley will be the one at MidValley, now half the size of the space previously.
