The vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur sets the stage for the prestigious Malaysia Asian Exchange Print Exhibition (MAEPE) 2024, hosted by the esteemed Dasein Academy of Art’s Graphic Design Department. This celebration of art and design brings together seven countries’ finest artists, scholars, and designers to showcase around 48 exquisite masterpieces.

The “Malaysia Asian Exchange Print Exhibition (MAEPE) 2024” commenced on March 18th, and today the organizers specially invited the participants to Dasein Academy of Art’s D’Gallery to hold a simple yet grand opening ceremony.

During the ceremony, Mr. Henz Gooi Hean Chye, President and Co-founder of Dasein Academy of Art, shared his vision, stating, “Art and design have the power to enrich lives and serve as a hallmark of a thriving society. Through this exhibition and the academic pursuit of aesthetics, we aim to ignite creativity and imagination, fostering a deeper appreciation for the beauty of life.”

The essence of MAEPE 2024 lies in fostering cultural exchange and artistic innovation among talents from across Asia. Artists have contributed works aligned with this year’s theme – “Dasein,” a philosophical concept of human existence proposed by the eminent German writer Heidegger in his seminal work “Being and Time.”

Ms. Samantha Cheah, Head of Graphic Design, Dasein Academy of Art

Ms. Samantha Cheah, Head of Graphic Design, Dasein Academy of Art, expressed gratitude to all participating artists, highlighting the exhibition’s role in broadening cultural understanding. “Through the diverse interpretations of ‘Dasein’ showcased in 48 artworks, we aim to deepen appreciation for different cultures and customs,” she remarked.

Following the opening ceremony, attendees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the captivating artworks on display, while artists shared insights into their creative process and inspirations.

The lineup of participating artists encompasses emerging talents, seasoned professors, acclaimed authors, and influential figures in the advertising industry. Notable names include multimedia artist Terri Tang from Australia, renowned Malaysian advertising executive Gigi Lee, global graphic design pioneer Irwan Harnoko from Indonesia, and Taiwan’s Ting Jen-Tung, a driving force behind the Western International Painting Village.
