Ruby Chinese New Year & Appreciation Set

Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant One World Hotel offers various Chinese New Year & Appreciation Sets this Chinese New Year from now until 3rd March. A few weeks ago, media were introduced to their Ruby Set priced at RM1988 nett which consists of 9 courses. The other sets are Sapphire @ RM1688 nett, Emerald @ RM2388 nett & Diamond @ RM2888 nett. There is also a vegetarian set @ RM1688 nett.

Norwegian Salmon Fillet Yee Sang

Of course, no Chinese New Year set can start without the tossing of Yee Sang. In this case, the Norwegian Salmon Yee Sang tasted so fresh with the rest of the Yee Sang ingredients. This was my first Yee Sang of the year.

Braised Crab Meat Soup with Sun Dried Scallop and Sea Treasure

The soup is thick and filled with delicacies from the sea.

Roasted Chicken served with Crispy Potato Wedges

Normally, we would expect fish crackers to be served with a roast chicken dish but in this set, we had crispy potato wedges which was quite a nice difference and more filling than the usual fish crackers.

Steamed Red Snapper with Hunan Pickled Chilli (Spicy)

The red snapper has a firm texture and pairs well with the pickled chilli which is not as spicy as it looks.

Wok Fried Grass Prawns with King Soy Sauce, Golden Garlic and Black Pepper

The sauce is thick and there is a bit of an “oomph” to the flavour thanks to the black pepper. Prawns are quite big and you won’t stop at just one or two prawns.

Braised Abalone, Mushroom, Bean Curd with Garden Green Topped with Sea Moss and Oyster Sauce

The best part of this dish is definitely the abalone. One can never have enough abalone.

Wok Fried Fragrant Rice with Waxed Meat & Chinese Chicken Sausage

The rice is redolent with the scent of the waxed meat and sausage. It makes a very nice end to the meal before the desserts.

Zuan Yuan Prosperity Fancy Duet Pastry

The crispy layer of the pastry perfectly complements the luscious yam filling within.

Chilled Sea Coconut with Lotus Seed, Lily Bulb & Snow Fungus

This is my favourite dessert as it’s cooling and refreshing as well as thirst-quenching.
