Want to cook up something delicious at home and impress your friends/family/boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse but don’t have the time to look for recipes or buy the ingredients? This is where online food delivery kit provider Freshable comes in with the solution. They deliver pre-portioned, high quality ingredients right to your door and there’s no need to research on the recipe as the ingredients are measured to the exact requirements and all you have to do is follow the instructions and the meal will be ready within minutes. It’s such a foolproof way of ensuring the meal will be perfect.

Freshable has collaborated with Olivia Deli @ APW Bangsar in celebration of the famous Spanish festival, La Tomatina. It’s the festival held in the Valenciam town of Buñol, in the east of Spain 30 kilometres (19 mi) from the Mediterranean, in which participants throw tomatoes and get involved in a tomato fight purely for entertainment purposes. It takes place on the last Wednesday of August.

Cooking at home can be tiresome and a bit of a hassle and you may end up with excess ingredients which you don’t know what to do with as you may be cooking only that one time for a special occasion. Freshable short cuts the cooking process for you – you pick which recipe(s) to cook and they will pack, portion and deliver ingredients to you in their signature Freshable box.

All you have to do is browse their recipes, order your meal kits, and select a delivery date. They now offer next day delivery options so you can receive your meal kits a day after placing your order. Once you receive your meal kit, unbox and refrigerate ingredients as needed. Cooking the meal kit is effortless, simply follow the recipe card that’s enclosed which is what members of the media did during Freshable’s media event at Olivia Deli a few weeks ago.

Members of the media were divided into 2 teams and we each cooked according to a simple recipe from Freshable’s limited edition (available till end of August) menu. The recipe we worked on was Spanish Garlic Prawns which basically took less than half an hour to cook. Olivia Deli was a most suitable location to introduce members of the media to Freshable’s La Tomatina meal kits as Olivia Deli specialises in Southern European cuisine, in particular Spanish/Portugese food.

My team with the Spanish Garlic Prawns

After we finished cooking the Spanish Garlic Prawns which smelled absolutely wonderful, we watched Chef Joao Mole whip up a huge pan of seafood paella and I got a chance to stir the dish. That was such a great experience as I do like cooking in other people’s kitchens haha!

I love the Freshable boxes in one of my favorite colours

The Spanish Garlic Prawns meal kit takes just 35 minutes, featuring large shrimp which we peeled and deveined, extra virgin olive oil, chicken broth, garlic, parsley (chopped), and chilli powder if you’re craving an extra spicy kick! Sprinkle the added chopped parsley onto the dish and serve warm. Even if you are cooking this dish alone, it won’t take long to prepare. It was so yummy that I wanted a whole plate to myself. This kit serves 2 pax and is priced at RM28.90.

Check out Freshable’s website for all their delicious and fuss-free wholesome and nutritious meal kits. There are so many choices that I would need time to decide which one to order. I’d like one that is as easy as possible.
