Athirah Kamaruzzaman (Or “Tyra”,), the 19-year-old founder of BeauTyra, grew up in the city of Kuala Lumpur. She delved into the world of entrepreneurship at the young age of 14, and at the age of 18 started up her own beauty brand, known as BeauTyra. BeauTyra aims to be a fun, easy on the wallet and dynamic brand that offers essential beauty products to make their users look camera ready, instantly.
BeauTyra has come up with four different shades of blushers within the first six months of launch. They are Feline, Flamenco, Mermaid and the recently released limited edition Unicorn blush, which have all been a big success on their exclusive platform, Shopee. After the release of the first three blushers, BeauTyra received an overwhelmingly positive response which led them into producing a limited edition blush, which was again met with positive feedback and thousands of satisfied customers.
During the first batch release of their “Unicorn” blusher, 1000 blushers were sold out in the span of 4 minutes. “I was speechless and happy! Since I am the one who added the stock at that time, I thought it was a technical glitch but it was really sold out in 4 minutes!” said the founder of BeauTyra. “All dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them; BeauTyra is my dream and it has come true”. These blushers can be purchased only through Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Malaysia and in the region.
Social media influencers and the media came together at the brand official launch event which was held at The Oak Hall, Damansara Perdana, Petaling Jaya. It was a double celebration as it was also the founder’s birthday. The two-hour long event consisted of fun activities and the introduction of their new product, BeauTyra Hair-To-Toe Mist, which will be made available on Shopee in mid-January 2019.
Available in three different scents, ‘Apple-y Ever After’, ‘Very Berry Sweet’, and ‘Peach of Me’ the new Hair-To-Toe Mist is an all-in-one mist that can be used for hair, hijab and body. The Hair-To-Toe Mist are made for those who are always on the go, and is especially useful in hot weather. It is travel-friendly, non-greasy and long-lasting.
The founder of BeauTyra started loving cosmetics ever since her schooling days and realised that she could not live without having her blushers on, “I noticed that blushers complete my makeup look and it add on colours to everyone’s face, without it the makeup look is not complete. Hence why we came out with blushers first. It’s something I know everyone loves and needs in their life! After its success, I have always thought of producing my very own hair products because other than my blushed cheeks, people always talk about my hair too! Which is why we came up with the Hair-To-Toe mist,” said the 19-year-old founder.
BeauTyra made waves for its beliefs in inclusivity, which is why the shades of blush being sold is suitable for all of the different and diverse skin tones in Malaysia. When asked about her future plans for BeauTyra, Tyra Kamaruzzaman replied, “I’d like to see this brand grow in both size and products. I’d like for us to be the driving force for inclusivity in Beauty, first in the region, and InsyaAllah if God wills it, in the world. I’m lucky to be able to wake up and do what I love every day, but this isn’t a pipe dream anymore. This is real, and I want to take it as far is it can possibly go.”
