Suria KLCC kicked off their Chinese New Year celebrations yesterday evening by inviting children from the House of Joy and Rumah Charis to a shopping spree at KLCC. They were each given RM150 worth of Ang Pow money to be spent on new clothes of their choice at Isetan departmental store. The children were accompanied by Suria KLCC management team who helped them with their shopping.
The children were treated to an eight drums performance and acrobatic lion dance and dinner at Spring Garden restaurant for an auspicious Yee Sang tossing and dim sum dinner. The House of Joy and Rumah Charis are non-profit charitable homes that shelter and care for underprivileged, abused, abandoned, neglected, poor and delinquent children, teenagers and senior citizens.
The longest Chinese horse painting was created at KLCC Esplanade in about half an hour by renowned horse painting artist, James Phua and recognized as the longest horse painting in Malaysia by The Malaysian Book of Records. The painting was created on a canvas measuring 12 metres by 6 metres exceeding the current world record by Australian artist, Yao Di Xiong who created the largest horse painting in 2002 on 10 feet by 20 feet canvas. James Phua created the painting using freestyle techniques with a specially enlarged Chinese painting brush and approximately 60 liters of paint.
Celebrate the lunar New Year with Suria KLCC from now till 2 February. Suria KLCC embraces the year of the horse with a selection of artistic horse paintings amongst pink cherry blossom trees and beautiful red lanterns throughout the mall and KLCC Esplanade.
