Christmas Buffet Dinner At Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur

dsc_0090_3Much as I love buffets, I wish I had more capacity for all the food displayed as I would like to try everything. This is what I was wishing when I saw the Christmas Buffet Dinner at Taman Sari Brasserie, Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur a few evenings ago during the media preview. The coffee house looked so festive and cheerful with a huge turkey figurine and all the Christmas cakes looked so delectably delicious. One thing I know is that Hotel Istana KL never disappoints when it comes to pastries. I have always enjoyed the cakes there, it’s one of the better hotels when it comes to desserts.

I started with the grilled seafood, the salmon packets are simply awesome. So much so that I had four of them. The seafood is so fresh, you can also pick beef and chicken other than squid, mussels and crab. I usually avoid having crab at buffets as it gets too messy. It only takes a few minutes to grill whatever you desire.

Of course, one must have the turkey with chestnut and sage stuffing. I always find turkey a bit dry but the turkey at this buffet is quite tender in certain parts.

istana2dsc_0092_3Of the main courses, my favourite was the Crusted Salmon Fillet With Pomegranate Couscous And Maitre D’Hotel Butter, the grains are so sweet and fluffy, there’s no need to chew. This is a must-have from the buffet.

dsc_0088_3The Apple And Walnut Stuffed Chicken Roulade With Pan Jus is also worth a mention.

The breads at this buffet are a sight to behold, I wish I could have them every day.

dsc_0064_1dsc_0065_2The desserts are outstanding, check out the Croquenbouche Towers and beautiful Yule Logs. All the pastries have a festive look.

There were so many more main courses and desserts I wanted to try but I was just too full after a few rounds. Hotel Istana has an early bird special from 1 December to 15 December 2017 (limited to 8 persons per reservation).
