Bobbi Brown Bronze Tortoiseshell Eye Palette

There were quite a few Bobbi Brown eye palettes in 2011 but in my opinion, none more outstanding than the Bronze Tortoishell Eye Palette. I think it was Bobbi Brown’s best of last year because of the perfect combination of textures and colours.

Looking at the closed palette, I wouldn’t have guessed that it contained two tiers of shadows, it isn’t a bulky palette and not heavy either. Despite the plasticky case, I do like the look and it doesn’t feel all that flimsy. Open the cover to reveal the top tier and part of the bottom tier. You have to slide open the bottom tier to see the two shadows at the back.

These are swatches of the two tiers:-

  • Banana (Matte)
  • Gold Nugget (Sparkle)
  • Olive (Sparkle)
  • Bronze (Metallic)

  • Tiger’s Eye (Metallic)
  • Espresso (Matte)
  • Copper Cocoa (Shimmer)
  • Amber (Shimmer)

I know that the Sand Tortoiseshell Eye Palette was the one recommended for fair skin tones and the Bronze for darker skin tones as this was what I was told by the Bobbi Brown makeup artist when I went to have a look at the palettes. However, I wasn’t that impressed with the shades in the Sand Palette, they were bland and boring.

As for the Bronze Tortoiseshell Palette, the colours in this one are far more interesting and wearable (in my opinion). I love the shimmers and sparkles in most of the shadows. To put it simply, these are my kind of shades! My favourite shade is (no surprise here) Olive.

Now this is what I call a good value Bobbi Brown Eye Palette because it was RM220 for 8 x 1.3g/1.4g eye shadows.
