The three-day ‘Bersama Satu Bazaar’ – the brainchild of Malaysia’s largest home improvement company – was a resounding success, judging by the reaction of thousands of Malaysians who thronged the event over the Merdeka weekend.

Hosted by MR D.I.Y Group [M] Berhad [MR D.I.Y] and held at PIAZZA, Pavilion Bukit Jalil from 30 August to 1 September 2024, the Bazaar featured a unique Unity Gallery art exhibition, over a hundred stalls showcasing some of Malaysia’s most talked-about food, drinks and goods, as well as performances by various artists.

The highlight was a special mini-concert featuring celebrities Alif Satar & The Locos, Jaclyn Victor, and Priscilla Abby, who performed the patriotic anthem ‘Bersama Satu Suara’ live for the first time on 31 August 2024.

One visitor who truly enjoyed the bustling atmosphere at the bazaar was Nor Afini Shohimi, who said, “It was such a great event. The best! We usually experience MR D.I.Y. in stores, but this Merdeka Bazaar offered a different environment with the latest products and collaborations with local brands. The best part was the food – there was so much of it! I hope MR D.I.Y. hosts more events like this in the future.”

Thrilled with the positive response from Malaysians, MR D.I.Y. Group’s Head of Marketing Alex Goh, said “We thank Malaysians for coming together to celebrate pride, unity, and fun in true Malaysian style at our first-ever Merdeka Bazaar.  The presence of young Malaysian entrepreneurs, with their exciting range of food, drinks, and products, made it extra special for those who visited the Bazaar. For many, it was their first chance to sample some of the food that had gone viral on Instagram and TikTok; it felt good to make these accessible to more Malaysians.”

He added, “The performance by Alif Satar & The Locos, Jaclyn Victor, and Priscilla Abby was simply spectacular – they brought real meaning to the lyrics and music of the song commissioned by MR D.I.Y for the people of Malaysia. As a homegrown Malaysian retailer, we are thrilled to bring MR D.I.Y. closer to the rakyat in this unique and exciting way. The rakyat’s support has been invaluable –  thank you Malaysians, and Selamat Hari Merdeka.”

In addition to featuring popular local F&B vendors and products, the Bazaar also featured a selection of products from MR D.I.Y., MR. TOY, EMTOP, and MR. DOLLAR – all part of the MR D.I.Y. Group.  There were also booths offering fun games and creative workshops, and a lucky draw for those who participated in the event passport challenge, making it a fun event for the whole family.
