“At Sunway Sanctuary, we believe that healthy ageing is nurtured through meaningful social connections, lifelong learning, and proactive wellness. Through our collaboration with Sunway University and community partners, we are proud to create opportunities for different generations to come together, learn from one another, and build healthier communities,” said Doris Chin, General Manager of Sunway Sanctuary.

The programme aimed to promote early prevention and holistic health awareness through an accessible community wellness platform. Health assessments conducted during the programme included the 1 Minute Sit to Stand Test and Functional Reach Test led by a certified physiotherapist. Nutrition and lifestyle consultations by the Wellness Centre also provided personalised guidance to support healthier living habits.

The programme also demonstrated the value of intergenerational engagement by creating opportunities for older adults, students, and families to interact, exchange perspectives, and build meaningful social connections. Activities such as line dance sessions facilitated by Sunway Sanctuary’s Recreation & Leisure team and the “Generations of Love” family painting activity encouraged participants across different generations to connect, learn, and create meaningful memories together.

Additional wellness promotion booths provided participants with greater awareness of holistic care, healthy ageing, and family wellness support across different stages of life, including senior living and postnatal confinement care. These engagement activities encouraged community members to better understand available care resources, preventive health practices, and wellness support options for themselves and their families.

The initiative demonstrates Sunway Sanctuary’s ongoing efforts to promote active ageing, community inclusion, and preventive health awareness by bringing together education, healthcare, and community engagement. Through initiatives such as this, Sunway Sanctuary continues to support healthier, more connected, and enriched lifestyles for the community.
