Shine Classic, Sulwhasoo’s special edition compact powder foundation, which is released once every year since 2003 is now available in its latest 2014 version. This year, the design features the Mother-of-Pearl, a modern reinterpretation of Korean aesthetics that combines luxury and tradition.
Featuring the Mother-of-Pearl Design
The Mother-of-Pearl signifies wealth and elegance. It has been used as a design element for various accessories and crafts. Inspired by the Mother-of-Pearl, Sulwhasoo uses sophisticated as well as modern techniques to highlight the beauty of the Mother-of-Pearl and in delivering the harmonious beauty of tradition and modernity that Sulwhasoo pursues.
Sulwhasoo collaborated with artist Hyun Kyung Lee in designing the 2014 Shine Classic. For the design on the case, Hyun Kyung Lee uses small reactangular fragments of theMother-of-Pearl to envision a plum blossom design. The rectangular pieces which also represents elegant Korean women, are applied to express a more natural and beautiful plum blossom than a plum blossom in curves. This is done deliberately to add a modern touch to the Shine Classic design.
The translucent white plum blossom is placed on top of the background design to enhance the natural colours of the Mother-of-Pearl resulting in an exquisite contrast design. Pistils of plum blossoms are then placed at the centre of the plum blossom to symbolize elegance and dignified beauty. Lacquer finish is then thinly applied to penetrate the background colour to exude the natural bright luminescent colours of the pearl. The design delivers visual beauty along with tactual beauty from the uneven surface design. There are two distinctive designs representing each Shine Classic variant i.e. White for the Powder Compact variant and Blue for the Multi-colour Powder Compact version.
The content, which is the powder also carries the Mother-of-Pearl design elements with design motives of the plum blossom featured at the centre of the compact powder.
Micro-fine Grinding Technology For Smooth, Clear Skin and Weightless Makeup
The 2014 Shine Classic applies the finest technology and ingredients to ensure smooth and clear skin. The Micro-fine Grinding Technology using the new pulverizing facility helps in producing micro-fine powder particles as tiny as 7.7 microns as compared to the previous 8.1 microns. The micro-fine powder offers weightless makeup while at the same time maintains smooth skin texture.

Clear Skin
The micro-fine powder spreads evenly on the skin for a more even skintone and a clear complexion.
Breathable Skin
The new technology, which also features micro pores, has an air channel that allows the skin to breathe. It also contributes to the weightlessness of the powder.

It contains plum extracts, which is high in antioxidants to protect the skin while at the same time delivers the subtle scent of plum blossoms.
Natural Colorant (Multi-colour Powder Compact Variant)
It uses natural colourant capsule powder that contains safflower, Rubus coreanus, Magnolia denudata and Schisandra chinesis which gives the clear radiance and vitality of plum blossoms.
The 2014 Shine Classic comes in two variants with each carrying an exclusive design:
i) Shine Classic Powder Compact (9g x 2 which includes a refill, a puff and a pouch), RM 440
The case design of this variant features a white plum blossom on top of a beige background to symbolize pure and clear skintone. White also represents pure plum blossoms of winter and its function to deliver clear and pure skin. Applying this compact powder not only helps in minimising flaws on the skin but it also adds brightness to the skin while at the same time protects the skin from aggressors, leaving it as delicate as petals. The compact powder is available in No 2 (Calm Tone) for a more natural and subtle look.
How to use: Use the puff to apply after base makeup or for makeup correction. Lightly pat with an appropriate amount over the face.
ii) Shine Classic Multi-color Powder Compact (9g which includes a brush and a pouch), RM 440
The Multi-colour Powder Compact case which features the white plum blossom on top of a blue background colour with yellow polka dots helps to bring out the multiple colours of the Mother-of-Pearl in symbolising the colorful and mysterious image of this variant. The Multi-colour Powder Compact functions as a highlighter to promote radiance and vitality with its diversity of colors. The colors of the beautiful plum petals deliver translucency and purity. Tones of this compact include: Light Pink, Deep Pink, Light Yellow, Light Purple and Light Blue.
How to use: Apply on the face with the powder brush. Blend all the colors of the powder and gently sweep through the face.
