KL Wellness City Ushers In “Kongsi Cahaya ”This Chinese New Year, Highlighting Major Healthcare Milestones

KL Wellness City (KLWC), Southeast Asia’s pioneering wellness and healthcare master township developer, officially launched “Kongsi Cahaya” in conjunction with the 2026 Chinese New Year celebrations. The
launch marks a vibrant start to the Year of the Horse and reinforces KLWC’s commitment to building Malaysia’s future-ready healthcare ecosystem.

The event was officiated by Encik Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim, Director General of Tourism Malaysia representing YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture alongside Dato’ Dr. Colin Lee, Managing Director of KL Wellness City and brought together community partners and special guests from local welfare homes as part of KL Wellness City’s ongoing social responsibility efforts.

The festivities began with a warm welcome by Dato’ Dr. Colin Lee, Managing Director of KL Wellness City, who remarked: “The theme ‘Kongsi Cahaya’ reflects our core mission to be a beacon of health and hope. As we enter the Year of the Horse, we are not just celebrating a festival, but also the spirit of community. By supporting local artists and the less fortunate, we hope to share the light of prosperity with everyone in this township.”

Beyond the festive celebrations, KLWC shared key updates on the progress of its healthcare developments, underscoring steady momentum towards operational readiness. “As we usher in the new year through Kongsi Cahaya, we are encouraged by the steady progress across KL Wellness City. Construction of our rooftop helipad is underway to support critical patient transfers in the future, while The Nobel Healthcare Park remains on track to achieve vacant possession by mid-2026. At the same time, the KL International Hospital is progressing as planned, with completion targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026. These milestones reflect our commitment to building a comprehensive, future-ready healthcare ecosystem that serves both local communities and the wider region.” Shared Dato’ Dr. Colin Lee as the milestones reflect KL Wellness City’s long-term vision of integrating healthcare, wellness and medical tourism within a single ecosystem.

A standout highlight of the event was a historic first for a Malaysian healthcare developer, the showcase of five original Chinese New Year songs. The audience was treated to a series of vibrant live performances by five distinct local groups, including 1119 Entertainment, Mari Home Group of Artists, Jubilee World Pageants, Goddess of Nature Malaysia and Top Scholar Education Group captivated the audience with songs such as “Blessings Are Coming,” “Mari Home,” and “A Year to Shine,” reinforcing KLWC’s commitment to supporting local creative talent.

KLWC also extended its support to local orphanages, sharing the season’s prosperity with:

  • Lighthouse Children Welfare Home Association, Kuala Lumpur & Selangor
  • Persatuan Kebajikan Rumah Victory Malaysia, Puchong
  • Yayasan Sunbeams Home, Cheras

“True prosperity is measured by how much we give back. Supporting these homes is our way of ensuring that the joy and ‘light’ of the New Year reach every corner of our community, especially the younger generation who represent our future,” added Dato’ Dr. Colin.

The event was supported by the attendance of Encik Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim, Director General of Tourism Malaysia representing YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture who highlighted the significance of KLWC’s initiatives: “KL Wellness City exemplifies how innovation and culture can go hand in hand.

By celebrating the richness of our heritage while advancing world-class healthcare infrastructure, this project not only enhances Malaysia’s position as a leading medical and wellness tourism destination but also inspires communities to embrace wellness and prosperity together.”

Adding to the celebrations, KL Wellness City introduced a special festive highlight by sponsoring a lucky draw for guests. Ten winners were selected during the event, with each receiving a Health Screening Voucher worth RM1,000. The vouchers are redeemable at KL International Hospital upon its opening in the future, reflecting KL Wellness City’s ongoing commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and
community wellbeing.
