The KL Journal Hotel Kedai Kopi Journal Iftar Set Menu For Ramadan

dscn94651

While most hotels offer a wide spread of buffet dishes every Ramadan, there is a tendency to over-indulge especially when there are over a hundred dishes to choose from, not to mention such buffets are generally RM100+ per person. The KL Journal Hotel Kedai Kopi Journal offers an Iftar Set Menu (Set A and B) which draws upon the heritage of Malaysian favourites. It’s like dining at home, only you don’t need to do any cooking. The dishes are like home-cooked food.

The “tiffin” inspired spread will be showcased from now till June 24 at Kedai Kopi Journal located on the Ground Floor of The KL Journal. Priced at RM298 nett per set, each set menu serves 5 persons. Patrons are encouraged to make their reservations at least a day prior to their visit as these menus are cooked on the spot to retain the authenticity  of the flavours and texture of ingredients.

My favourites from these two set menus are the Green Curry Spring Chicken (the chicken is so tender and I didn’t feel that the green curry sauce was necessary as the spring chicken us well seasoned) and beef rendang which goes so well with the tomato rice. The fish curry sauce was not so spicy but the fish itself could have done with a bit more flavour. The Kambing Bakar is slightly chewy and it got a bit tiring and cumbersome trying to separate the meat from bone. Normally, I don’t like having satay in hotel coffee houses as it doesn’t have that authentic grill taste but thumbs up for this one because the meat is tender and it is well grilled. The satay is very well prepared for hotel satay. Generally, the dishes are beautifully presented in containers that remind one of yesteryears.
