Coca-Cola Malaysia’s ‘Acts of Kindness’ Campaign Benefits Underprivileged Communities During Ramadan

Coca-Cola Malaysia continues its efforts to make a positive impact on the local community through its annual ‘Acts of Kindness’ campaign during the holy month of Ramadan this year.

Working in collaboration with partners such as AEON BiG Malaysia, Yayasan Ikhlas, Lotus Malaysia, and K Fry Urban Korean, the ‘Acts of Kindness’ campaign will benefit nearly 4,000 individuals from underprivileged communities through several targeted programs this month.

A heartwarming Iftar (breaking of fast) session was held today at AEON BiG Subang Jaya, attended by 100 individuals from underprivileged communities. The program also included the donation of RM 200 in AEON BiG gift cards to each participant in preparation for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities. The Iftar event in Subang Jaya marks the third iteration of similar events held in Seberang Perai and Batu Pahat in partnership with AEON BiG.

Khairul Anwar Ab. Gahani, Director of Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability, Coca-Cola Bottlers Malaysia-Singapore-Brunei reiterated, Coca-Cola Malaysia’s commitment to the ‘Acts of Kindness’ campaign, stating “We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with our partners AEON BiG Malaysia, Yayasan Ikhlas, Lotus Malaysia, and K Fry Urban Korean in spreading joy and support during Ramadan.”

Sheikh Farouk Sheikh Mohamed, Managing Director, AEON BiG Malaysia stated, “AEON BiG Malaysia is deeply honored to be part of Coca-Cola Malaysia’s ‘Acts of Kindness’ campaign during Ramadan. Sharing compassion and support with our communities is at the core of our values, especially during such a significant time. Each Iftar session is more than just a meal; it’s a symbol of hope and togetherness. We are delighted to provide AEON BiG gift cards that allow individuals to enjoy Hari Raya with a sense of
abundance and joy.”

Working with Lotus Malaysia and Yayasan Ikhlas, Coca-Cola Malaysia hosted another Iftar session with 200 individuals from underserved urban communities in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur on 30 March 2024. The event included the distribution of food baskets and Raya clothing to the participants, alongside services such as a mobile hair salon.

“We are grateful to Coca-Cola Malaysia for inviting us to extend kindness to economically vulnerable groups who are often forgotten. We know that by working together, we can achieve more. By combining the strength of our volunteers and assisting in the preparation and distribution of food baskets and Raya clothing, we hope our small acts will bring delight into their lives and help reduce their expenses for the upcoming festivities,” said Hanim Hamdan, Head of Communications and Sustainability, Lotus’s Malaysia.
Since the start of Ramadan, Coca-Cola Malaysia’s ‘Acts of Kindness’ campaign has hosted Iftar sessions at mosques and welfare homes across the Klang Valley and Southern Malaysia in partnership with key brands such as Lotus Malaysia and K Fry Urban Korean.

Khairul added, “Coca-Cola Malaysia’s ‘Acts of Kindness’ campaign goes beyond the Ramadan period. It encompasses diverse outreach activities, including distributing Back-To-School assistance, providing food aid, and engaging in flood relief operations on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia with community collaboration.”
