The Ordinary Launches Sulfur 10% Powder-To-Cream Concentrate

The Ordinary launches a unique, and innovative spot treatment to quickly and visibly target the look of blemishes, wherever you are, within 1 hour.

The past five years have seen the acne and blemish market in rapid growth, with spot creams, pimple patches, and drying solutions dominating the market. This growth is predicted to continue with Global Marketing insights reporting that by 2032, the value of the Anti-Acne Cosmetics Market is predicted to increase by over 50%. Yet amongst the influx of spot-treatment products that currently exist, immediacy and visible results appear to matter the most to consumers.

The Ordinary’s blemish solution portfolio already consists of an assortment of solutions armed at maintaining clear skin targeting breakouts and post-blemish solutions – for example, Salicylic Acid 2% Masque.

But until now there hasn’t been an immediate solution on offer.

Introducing Sulfur 10% Powder-To-Cream Concentrate. On the 6th of August, The Ordinary will launch their targeted blemish formulation in a powder-to-cream format, to immediately target the look of angry breakouts in a convenient, portable format. Formulated with 10$ Sulfur to reduce the appearance of spot redness and balance excess oil, this treatment starts to work upon application, for visible results in as little as 1 hour.

Powder-to-Cream: Behind the Texture-Scenes

The Ordinary’s Sulfur 10% Powder-To-Cream Concentrate has a unique novel powder-to-cream texture. This format is not only unique but practical as it allows for easy application and adjustable dispensing with a texture that helps to absorb excess oil and reduce visible shine. The powder format was selected to help with stability as powder formulations are generally more stable than formulations with a higher concentration of water.

As the product begins in its powder state, it can easily be taken on the go and applied directly on the spot with a clean finger as needed, keeping consumers prepared for those surprise breakouts in public.

Sulfur 10% Powder-To-Cream Concentrate is packaged as a powder, but when pressure is applied from the finger during application, the powder becomes a light emulsion that discreetly blends into the skin. This happens in 3 simple steps:

  1. During product formulation, powder elements and liquid elements are mixed together at high speed.
  2. This high-speed mixing creates mini capsules of water elements that are surrounded by the powder.
  3. When force is applied to these capsules (like with your finger when applying the product), the capsules break and release Sulfur actives that target blemishes.

Invisible Solution, Visible Results

With this new launch, The Ordinary champions its lead on transparency – not only in its commitment to making science accessible and digestible but literally, in Sulfur 10%’s ability to become invisible on application.

Pimple patches currently are one of the blemish treatments that dominate the market, and although companies have gone to efforts to manufacture near-invisible pimple patches, their material nature means they can never be fully transparent. That’s where The Ordinary comes in. Sulfur 10% formulation uses colloidal sulfur which has a smaller particle size, to not only help provide effective delivery but minimise the visibility and odour of the ingredient.

Not only does this product prioritise transparency, but also affordable innovation, with one bottle of Sulfur 10% Powder-To-Cream Concentrate being the equivalent of over 150 pimple patches.

This unique type of spot treatment provides more value as it offers supplementary uses compared to the standard pimple patch which is typically sold in packs of 20-30 stickers.

Sulfur 10% Powder-To-Cream Concentrate can be applied whenever and wherever necessary within your current skincare regime. It has no official product conflicts, but it is not recommended to be combined with multiple spot treatments. Sulfur 10% also offers a more gentle approach to targeting blemishes, making it ideal for those with sensitive skin.
