Lazada today introduced an all-new immersive livestream shopping feature on the Lazada mobile app ahead of the Lazada 12.12 Grand Year End Sale. The livestreaming format provides shoppers, brands and sellers with a richer experience, through real-time interactions, live discussions, product demonstrations and purchasing simultaneously all within the Lazada app.

The phenomenon of livestreaming is especially huge in China, where mobile phones create a digital bridge for those living outside major cities and serve as an important gateway to shopping and entertainment. It is estimated that China’s live streaming revenue will hit USD 4.4 billion this year, up of 32% from 2017. Tapping into Alibaba’s wealth of experience, technology and insights, Lazada is now bringing the livestream feature to its platform as Malaysians increasingly embrace more digital lifestyle solutions.

12.12 Super Livestreams
Beginning 8 December 2018, Malaysians will be able to hang out with Nana Mahazan, Yasmin Hani, Dynas Mokhtar, Sharifah Sakinah, Elaine Daly and more; and at the same time shop products that are being featured onscreen. During the livestreams, viewers can redeem exclusive vouchers, comment and send emoticons as well as share links to the livestream feed with their friends. Exclusive products and deals only available during the livestreams can be added to cart during the feeds from 8 December till 12 December 2018. Items in cart can be checked out from 10 to 12 December 2018.

The in-app livestream feature also presents an avenue for emerging brands and new sellers on Lazada to engage with their followers and potential customers by increasing brand and product awareness, leading to higher conversion from viewer to active consumer. Viewers in turn can engage with merchants directly and are more likely to follow stores, as well as leaving comments and likes. This empowers the consumer as it encourages brands and sellers to respond in real time and engage in conversations that are more complex versus other modes of interaction.
