Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15/PA++ Is The Best

My experience with Clinique foundations has never been a happy one because other than the foundation in their Derma White range, I have found their foundations to be generally too thick and heavy. The last one I tried and reviewed was Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus All Smooth Makeup SPF15 which I did say was not my favourite foundation.

This month sees a new Clinique foundation available at the counters – Even Better Makeup SPF 15/PA++ which together with the Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector form “the power couple” as these 2 products work in tandem to create a more even skin tone, a visible reduction in skin discolouration and an improvement in skin clarity, radiance and smoothness.

Even Better Makeup SPF 15/PA++  has been developed exclusively for Asians and is Clinique’s first dermatologist developed makeup that helps restore skin tone and diminish the look of uneven skin tone with continued use. This foundation contains a highly active Vitamin C complex to help correct uneven skin tone with continued use. There is also Vitamin E, mushroom yeast extract, natural grapefruit peel and white birch extracts, the combination of which target the appearance of existing uneven skin tone and help prevent future discolouration.

I kept putting off trying out this foundation because of my previous experience with Repairwear Laser Focus All Smooth Makeup SPF15. I had the notion that this foundation would be almost as thick but thankfully, I was wrong. This is a lightweight and nicely textured fluid foundation which should suit those who dislike heavy foundations or those with oily skins (in fact, it is designed for dry combination and oily skin types and for women of any age).

Although I thought that the shade I received (64 Cream Beige) would be a little dark for my skin tone, it sure didn’t seem so once I tried it on. This foundation can be applied using a brush, fingers or sponge. I use my fingers most of the time as I find that foundation is best absorbed into my skin this way but it’s just a matter of preference. I don’t think there is any right or wrong way to apply foundation. All makeup artists will have their preferred method of applying foundation too.

What I noticed about this foundation other than the easy blendability is the instant brightness and radiance it gives my skin. That it evens skin tone is a given but it is much better than that as there are few foundations that can give skin a dewy finish. Coverage is medium but it is enough for me. It is an especially good moisturiser for days when skin is looking dull and needs a brightening boost.

For me, this is the best foundation Clinique has produced so far. It suits me just fine and I can see myself reaching for this foundation most days from now on. I like the packaging too as it isn’t cumbersome nor heavy.

Simply and briefly, Even Better Makeup SPF 15/PA++ is the best Clinique foundation I have used so far and I have tried the gamut from Perfectly Real, Superfit and Superbalanced.

During the launch of Even Better Makeup SPF 15/PA++ , Clinique’s Special Events and Promotions Executive, David Ooi gave a make-up demonstration on Xandria Ooi. I took down a few tips during the course of the demo:-

  • start applying foundation from forehead, nose, cheeks, hairline.
  • after applying foundation with a brush, use fingers to soften the texture.
  • apply loose powder by blending powder with brush.
  • after applying powder to forehead and nose, tap away excess powder with buffing motions.
  • don’t pull eyelids when applying eyeliner, apply eyeliner close to eyelids by holding edges of eyelids a bit.
  • smudge eyeliner with brush.
  • apply blush on apples of cheeks downwards in 3 strokes.
  • apply more blush if necessary, layer the blush.
  • apply blush up to ear level only.
  • use Clinique’s Chubby Stick for lips as it has moisturisng benefits.

Even Better Makeup SPF 15/PA++ is available in 10 shades, 30ml/RM115.
