No Huffing & Puffing Required To Get To Three Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf

“No, no, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin.”
“Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in.”

I’d heard about this restaurant for some time but never walked past it and why would I have unless I’d been browsing at The Village Grocer at Bangsar Village as the main entrance to the restaurant is from the supermarket. In fact, my “makan kaki” and I had to ask for directions at the reception of Bangsar Village.

On the day we had lunch there, the restaurant was packed with a lot of young people, there were teens who looked like college students and young adults. Wow! Young people can really splurge on pricey lunches these days or maybe they were taking a well deserved break from their daily diet of mixed rice which can get monotonous.

With a name like Three Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf, you can bet the big bad wolf is more likely to be happy to dine here than the three little pigs unless they are cannibals because there’s a lot of pork dishes here. Prices of the mains are generally above RM20, even the Roast Pork Fried Rice which looks pretty average to me cost RM22.

The serving staff are very attentive. Although the restaurant was busy, we never had to wait long for the food to arrive or for our orders to be taken. We started by ordering mains first and then ordered dessert and a starter to top up our main course.

Flipping through the menu which has a cover with an illustration of the three little pigs in various poses, you will find plenty of choices. I was a little indecisive at first as everything looked promising but eventually settled on Wild Mushroom Soup and their signature dish, The Wolf’s Favourite. I was actually tempted by a salmon pasta but come on, one doesn’t go to this restaurant for something non-porcine, not for the first visit anyway.

The Wild Mushroom Soup (RM15) was actually really fabuloso as it was thick and creamy with chunks of mushrooms. The cream on top and croutons were the perfect complement to this outstanding soup.

The Wolf’s Favourite (RM29) is creamy spaghetti with smoked pork bacon & button mushrooms topped with poached egg & crispy bacon bits. Not much sauce in this dish, the bacon bits were very crispy. The poached egg is a good idea as the runny yolk went well with the spaghetti. This isn’t a dish I would be hankering for.

Mozzarella Cheese Sticks looks like fish fingers. They come with cranberry sauce and they are crispy outside with a soft interior. Very, very nice especially when dipped into the sweet cranberry sauce.

The tiramisu cake (RM14) was one of the best tiramisu cakes I have ever had. It was so soft and melted in my mouth. It wasn’t too sweet and I would love to go back for another piece when I am hungry like a wolf!
