Is there a lipstick case that looks more luxurious than Guerlain’s? Maybe there is but I don’t think there are any out there that feel as lightweight and with a texture like butter. Guerlain Shine Automatique lipsticks are pretty unique in that you don’t need to open the cover with the other hand simply because you just slide down the knob bearing the brand’s insignia on the front and voila! lipstick slides out on top.
Sounds like a good idea? Kind of since you can apply lipstick with one hand on the steering wheel (not recommended), pushing the shopping cart (if you spy a cute looking guy in the next aisle) or talking on the phone while crossing the street because you’ve just spied a cute looking guy across. It’s best not to push the knob till the end as you want to avoid potential breakage – the lipstick should come out just enough for easy application just like how we’d swivel out conventional packaging lipsticks.
Shine Automatique Sous Le Vent 200 is a warm caramel, rose with beige undertones. It’s not exactly my kind of shade as I would prefer a darker rose with more pink in it rather than brown. This is quite a natural shade and would suit ladies who like neutral lip shades.
It really does feel like butter on my lips, so soft and moisturizing, kind of like applying shea butter on lips. I can feel the shimmery particles when I press my lips together but I can feel that less and less as time passes after application. It doesn’t really bother me but this may be an issue with ladies who prefer their lipstick texture to be completely smooth and non-gritty.
Staying power isn’t that fantastic, it starts fading after 3+ hours and definitely needs re-application after a meal. I prefer their Kiss Kiss lipsticks to Shine Automatique because the Kiss Kiss gives a more dense/concentrated color. There are more pigments in Shine Automatique but I’m not that crazy about shine in lipsticks. If I want shine, I’ll use a lip gloss.
I don’t have the price for Shine Automatique but I presume they can’t be less than RM100.
