A Watering Hole Not Just For Blue Elephants

There’s a new watering hole in town which I have been dying to tell everyone about because it’s so cleverly designed and if you are a movie buff, you will definitely love this place as there are references to the movies all around the pub. You can even karaoke to your heart’s delight right here with a group of chums.

Just a stone’s throw away from Aliyaa Island in Bukit Damansara (indeed the two are under the same management) is Blue Elephant, a movie themed pub so new that during my visit, they hadn’t even installed any signage yet. Ingeniously concealed behind a sliding bookcase is the pun itself and the 1st thing you see behind this door is a wall of paparazzi complete with flashing lights! I almost felt like a movie star already.

There are director’s chairs on which you can pretend to be Martin Scorsese or Steven Spielberg. Seriously, this is one pub where you can ham it up for the camera in every corner.

There are real trunks which double up as tables for your drinks and they have a popcorn machine too. You get served popcorn with your drinks.

For me, an iced raspberry drink will do, I play it safe.

If you are a fan of Marilyn Monroe, this is where you should be. Where I am standing are air vents which can blow up your skirt a la Marilyn in “The Seven Year Itch”. They have thought of everything at Blue Elephant, it’s these small details that make it a must-visit pub.
