Most of the sourdough cafes/bakeries I have come across are quite far away from me but recently I came across iCRUST Cafe & Bakery in my neighbourhood (not my housing area but close enough). It’s located on a quiet street where there are a number of cafes – seems like there are more each time I am on that street. The other side of this row of shophouses is more busy and it’s harder to find parking on the other side.
iCRUST Cafe & Bakery occupies 2 shop lots and sells an assortment of sourdough breads, buns, cakes and other pastries. I went there after lunch last Saturday as I was curious, am always on the look-out for bakeries as there seems to be a shortage of really good bakeries in my area.
The cafe/bakery is spacious and stepping in from the extreme heat outside, I was pleased to see a wide variety of sourdough. The only problem is that they don’t have signs for most of the baked goods and you have to ask what this or that is as well as the price. iCRUST Cafe & Bakery has been open since last year.
The soft buns looked delicious and as they were RM12 for 3, I chose apricot, pineapple and lemon. They are made in different sizes. It’s recommended that they be warmed up prior to eating if you consume them the next day. I ate the lemon on the same day of purchase and the pineapple on the next day. I thought they were excellent, not too sour for my palate. I am not a huge fan of sourdough but I don’t mind the sour taste as long as it’s not too sour.
