Over 1,500 Cheras Residents Came Together To Learn About Emergency Skills & Health During Inaugural “Together For Health” Campaign

The “Together for Health” campaign was officially launched last Saturday at Cheras Leisure Mall, bringing together healthcare professionals, public health authorities and community partners in a collaborative private-public effort to promote preventive healthcare, wellbeing and emergency preparedness among Malaysians from all walks of life. The two-day community health initiative aimed to make health education more accessible, while encouraging individuals and families to take a proactive approach towards their physical and mental wellbeing.

A key highlight of the weekend was the large-scale CPR and AED training programme conducted over nine sessions across two days, which successfully trained near to 800 members of the public from all walks of life. The programme was designed to equip members of the public with practical emergency response skills and the confidence to act during critical situations. The launch ceremony was officiated by the Guest of Honour Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, Chairman of the Alliance for a Safer Community (IKATAN), who toured the various health and awareness zones and engaged with participating healthcare organisations and community partners.

“We must create a nation where every citizen has the confidence and willingness to respond during an emergency,” said Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, during his speech at the launch event. “Just as we teach road safety and fire safety, we should make CPR and AED awareness a part of everyday life. Therefore, the public must be empowered and encouraged to learn these essential lifesaving skills — not only for strangers, but for the people closest to us. The more people who possess these skills, the safer our communities become,” he said.

Together for Health was organised by PPB Properties, in collaboration with Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Selangor (JKNS) and the Selangor Committee on Resuscitation Training (SCORT). Supporting the initiative were nearly 100 healthcare personnel and volunteers from JKNS and Jabatan Kesihatan Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya, who were involved in delivering the CPR and AED training sessions, conducted health screenings and provided healthcare education throughout the initiative.

Beyond emergency preparedness, the weekend-long event adopted a holistic approach to community wellbeing. Visitors engaged with healthcare professionals on a wide array of health topics, including health screening services for blood sugar, cholesterol checks and mental health consultations, eye health awareness activities, specialist sharing sessions, rehabilitation product showcases and various wellness-focused engagements for children and adults alike.

The initiative was further supported by various partners: MedikHub, MyAED4U, Mindray, Neolee Rehab, iHope Centre, Fitness First, Spectruck, NUE, Eu Yan Sang, Asia Eye Specialist Centre and Mini Child Clinic, whose expertise and resources contributed to the campaign's comprehensive health and wellness offerings. Together for Health reflected a shared commitment to advancing health awareness and making preventive healthcare more accessible to the public. The event was a resounding success, where more than 1,500 members of Cheras participated in a meaningful step towards a more health-literate and emergency-ready community.
