Nights Of Fright® 12: Twelve Years Of Fear, A New World Awakens

Twelve years after its debut, Nights Of Fright® has evolved beyond a traditional horror attraction into a fully immersive entertainment experience, blending original horror concepts with cultural influences from Asia and around the world.

Nights Of Fright® 12: APE-OCALYPSE returns from 25 September to 7 November 2026, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7.30PM to 11.30PM, transforming Sunway Lagoon at Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, into an immersive destination featuring themed attractions, interactive experiences, live entertainment and more. Celebrating its 12th consecutive year, Nights Of Fright® continues to reign as Southeast Asia’s biggest festival of fear, blending world class experiential storytelling with fresh creative concepts and immersive entertainment.

This year’s edition continues the evolution of Nights Of Fright® by bringing together international horror influences with Malaysian and Asian storytelling, creating an experience designed to appeal to local audiences as well as visitors from across the region. At the centre of this year’s edition is APE-OCALYPSE, introducing a new creative direction for Nights Of Fright® through a world where civilisation has fallen and the apes have taken control.

Beyond its central theme, NOF 12 brings together a diverse line up of experiences inspired by Japanese folklore, cult horror, twisted fairytales, manga, K-pop culture and Southeast Asian supernatural folklore.

12 YEARS OF FEAR, CONTINUING TO EVOLVE

Since its debut, Nights Of Fright® has continued to redefine immersive horror entertainment, introducing fresh concepts, original storylines and bold creative influences with every edition. This year continues that tradition, with most of NOF 12’s haunted attractions featuring brand new concepts and experiences, giving returning guests new nightmares to discover while keeping the experience fresh for first-time visitors alike.

For NOF 12, this evolution is reflected in a lineup that brings together multiple genres and cultural influences within one destination, offering guests different forms of entertainment throughout the night. “Nights Of Fright® has always been about elevating immersion experiences and energising a movement that dominates the entertainment landscape in this region,” said Michelle Soong, General Manager of Business and Marketing Development of Sunway Theme Parks. “APE-OCALYPSE gives us an exciting creative direction, while the wider line up allows us to bring together international influences with elements that are familiar and meaningful to audiences in Malaysia and the region. We want NOF12 to offer guests an experience that feels fresh, immersive and distinctly Sunway Lagoon.”

From Japanese folklore and supernatural creatures to cult horror and dark reinterpretations of familiar stories, the experience brings together a variety of horror concepts. Among the attractions are Yokai Road, inspired by Japanese folklore, and The Freezer: Fresh Meat, which places guests inside a chilling meat processing facility. Little Shop of Horrors: Manga UV 3D combines classic horror with manga inspired aesthetics, ultraviolet effects and immersive 3D visuals, while The (Not-So) Wonderful Wizard of OZ gives a familiar fairytale a darker interpretation.

The line up also includes The Romeos & Juliet, which explores obsession, jealousy and murder against a K-pop inspired backdrop, and Horrorwood Wax Studios, which brings together horror icons, wax figures and immersive environments. Returning for NOF12, Return to Silent Hill bringing guests back into the cursed streets of Silent Hill, while Scarytales Immersive Theatre: Pontianak vs. Pocong: Origins brings Malaysian and Southeast Asian supernatural folklore into an immersive theatrical experience.

INTERNATIONAL CREATIVE EXPERTISE MEETS MALAYSIAN ENTERTAINMENT

Behind Nights Of Fright® is a longstanding creative collaboration between Sunway Lagoon and The Sudden Impact! Entertainment Company. With a creative portfolio spanning four continents, Sudden Impact! has developed original and licensed immersive attractions inspired by internationally recognised entertainment properties, combining cinematic storytelling, theatrical craft and large-scale immersive environments.

For NOF 12, this international creative expertise comes together with Sunway Lagoon’s in house creative and production capabilities, with its teams working across attraction development, production, technical execution, entertainment and guest experience to bring each concept to life within the park. “Nights Of Fright® has grown significantly over the years, and what makes the collaboration with Sunway Lagoon exciting is the opportunity to continually develop and curate new creative ideas for audiences in Malaysia,” said Lynton V. Harris, Founder and Global Creative Director of The Sudden Impact! Entertainment Company. “APE-OCALYPSE gives us a new creative canvas inspired by two iconic film franchises, Mad Max and The Planet of the Apes, while the attraction line up allows us to explore different horror and pop-culture genres, visual styles and cultural influences.

It is this combination of international creative expertise and local and regional influence that continues to make Nights Of Fright a distinctive world-class experience of fear, fun, and frights!” For NOF 12, this creative collaboration brings together international creative direction, Sunway Lagoon’s in house production capabilities, Malaysia’s cultural influences and Southeast Asian folklore. Together, these elements continue to develop Nights Of Fright® as an evolving entertainment property that connects local creativity with regional cultural influences and international immersive entertainment expertise.

MORE THAN JUST THE SCARES
