MR D.I.Y. Senior Management and the distinguished judging panel proudly celebrate with the winning artists of the MR D.I.Y. Regional Art Competition Prize Giving Ceremony 2025

The colours of Southeast Asia came alive at MR D.I.Y. Plus, Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur, as MR D.I.Y. officially announced the winners of its first-ever MR D.I.Y. Regional Art Competition, with the theme “Identity & Diversity”.

The inaugural competition brought together talented artists from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, marking an exciting new chapter for MR D.I.Y.’s long-running art initiative.

The MR D.I.Y. Regional Art Exhibition presents a vibrant showcase of Southeast Asian storytelling, featuring artworks by national winners from three countries, each selected to compete at the regional level. Each piece offers a creative reflection on themes of identity, heritage, and diversity, weaving together personal and cultural narratives. The exhibition will be open to the public at MR D.I.Y. Plus in Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur, from 12 to 17 November 2025.

A distinguished panel of nine judges comprising representatives from Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia convened on 30 October 2025 to evaluate the submissions. The judging criteria focused on creativity, originality, and the artists’ interpretation of the theme. The panel from Malaysia consisted of Ivan Gabriel, Bingley Sim and Liong Mei Yin. From Thailand, the panel comprised of Vichaya Mukdamanee, Subhachog Jumsai Na Ayudhya, and Watjanasin Charuwattanakitti, while Indonesia was represented by Ristyo Hartanto, Budhy Irawati, and Haryadi Tandio.

Commenting on the initiative, MR D.I.Y. Group’s Chief Executive Officer [CEO], Adrian Ong said, “This competition represents more than just art – it’s a celebration of who we are as a region. By connecting artists from different countries, we hope to inspire more creativity, understanding, and appreciation of the diverse cultures that make up Southeast Asia.”

Launched in 2022, the MR D.I.Y. Art Competition aimed to nurture homegrown artistic talent and foster a vibrant, inclusive creative ecosystem in Malaysia. The overwhelming response from local participants demonstrated the competition’s impact and potential, which encouraged MR D.I.Y. to expand the initiative to other nations, mirroring the brand’s regional expansion.
