Joy Dim Sum @ Kiara Bay
As I entered the car park of Kiara Bay for my tea-time at newly opened Joy Dim Sum, I realised I had been there before 3 years ago for an event at Starbucks. It’s quite a way from home and everywhere else I usually frequent but now there is a reason to visit more often. Despite the name “Joy Dim Sum”, you will be pleasantly surprised to find more than dim sum here as there is something for every palate. Dim sum is their specialty, of course, but you can also find savoury dishes and mains such as Fish & Chips, Chicken Chop, Rice Bowls.
Their specialty dishes include House-Made Soft Bun with Braised Chicken Meat, Stir Fried Carrot Cake, Curry Cheong Fun with Fried Beancurd & Sui Gau, Buttermilk Cheong Fun Classic and Lempeng Kelapa with Curry Potato. If you are very hungry, fill up with Nasi Lemak, Cantonese Fried Rice and Sambal Fried Rice.

During this first visit, I tried their House Made Soft Bun, Butter Milk Fish Rice Bowl, Bubur Chicken, Longevity Pau, Classic Prawn Dumpling, Shanghai Dumpling (Grilled), Black Sesame Portugese Tart, Salad Prawns and Red Bean Tong Shui. Personally, the stand-out dishes are the Bubur Chicken (it has strips of chicken, thick porridge and the most fragrant sesame oil), Classic Prawn Dumpling, Shanghai Dumpling (Grilled) and Salad Prawns. I could have consumed the entire bowl of Bubur Chicken by myself, it is one of the best chicken porridge ever and if I could, I would eat this often as it is healthy.
The dim sum come in generous sizes and is worth the price. The rice in the fish rice bowl is fluffy and can be eaten on its own without any sauce. I must say they have a variety of the most delicious sauces such as Mala Sauce and Sambal Udang Kecil. The Mala Sauce is not that spicy, in fact it is so good that it goes well with anything and everything.

Longevity Pau with lotus paste fillingEven before I entered Joy Dim Sum, I was greeted warmly by one of the staff outside. She was all smiles from the beginning to the end of my visit, so lovely to be made to feel welcome. The decor in this restaurant is quite unique as you see bamboo steamers decorating the staircase to the level above which has additional seating. The floral arrangements upstairs give the restaurant a colourful and cheerful vibe, this is a dim sum restaurant that truly embodies joy.
