A few weeks ago, I was given an introduction to China Glaze and was stupefied by the huge number of shades available. In general, the shades were stunning no matter what textures they were. It doesn’t matter what nail polish shades you prefer, you are bound to find your favourite colour at China Glaze.

Two of the latest collections from China Glaze are Hologlam and Avant Garden. There are 12 shades in the Hologlam Collection and the theme here is futuristic, luminous and glamorous. The texture is metallic and there isn’t one shade in this collection that I don’t like.

Sci-Fly By from Hologlam Collection

I am no expert at manicures so I do tend to be a bit sloppy in applying. Maybe I just don’t have the patience for self-manicures. I used Sci-Fly By without a base coat as I wanted to see how long it lasts without a base coat. When I first started using this one, it didn’t go beyong 24 hours before it started chipping. I stopped using it for a few weeks and then used it again. I don’t know why but second time round, it was better. It didn’t start chipping until 3 days later. It’s a beautiful blue, almost like a teal. It’s a fresh and vivid shade, extremely pleasing to the eye.

Mimosas Before Manis from Avant Garden Collection

Colourful, playful and romantic are the themes of China Glaze’s Avant Garden Collection of which there are also 12 shades. Most of the shades are pastel and Mimosas Before Manis is a coral with shimmer. This is such a cheerful spring colour. The texture of this one is slightly thicker and creamier than the Hologlam nail polish. Mimosas Before Manis has above average staying power as it generally lasts 3-4 days before chipping (without use of base coat).

Thanks to this introduction to China Glaze, I learned that the nail polishes contain China Clay as a nail hardener, the same material that gives porcelain its shiny finish.

I visited the China Glaze counter at 1 Utama but because I was pressed for time, I didn’t stay long. The shades there are very, very tempting even for someone who isn’t as interested in nail polish as me. Imagine what it’d do to someone who is seriously into nail polish! Both Sci-Fly By & Mimosas Before Manis are quick-drying and opaque with just 2 layers. Excellent quality nail polishes.
