adidas has unveiled Move For The Planet, a new global initiative that will harness the collective activity of sporting communities across the world.
adidas is encouraging people to turn activity into action as it pledges to donate €1 to Common Goal for every 10 minutes of activity logged across 34 sports in the adidas Running app between 1 June -12 June- up to €1.5m. The contributions will support projects around the globe that educate and engage communities on sustainability through sport.
Ashley Czarnowski, Senior Director, Global Purpose Marketing at adidas said: “Move For The Planet is an opportunity to harness the world’s love of sports to support some of the communities that need it most. The impact of the climate crisis is being felt more severely in some places than others, however, the one thing that unites us all is our love for sports. So, between 1 June and 12 June, we’re encouraging our global sporting community to join the movement and move for the places we play – it doesn’t matter how we move, just that we move to make a difference.”
Common Goal will direct contributions raised by Move For The Planet to projects in countries including Colombia, Greece, South Africa and Pakistan. Whether it’s renewing a community’s sports pitch using recycled materials or providing training on how to reduce plastic waste in sports facilities, the varied programs that have been selected focus on some of the places most impacted by the effects of climate change.
Move For The Planet is part of adidas’ wider sustainability initiatives as the company continues its mission to make what’s best for the athlete better for the planet. Earlier this year, adidas announced that it is ahead of schedule in its journey to replace virgin polyester with recycled polyester in its products wherever possible by the end of 2024. In 2022, 96% of all the polyester adidas used was recycled.
However, using recycled materials does not mean that the problem is solved, and Move For The Planet represents a broadening of adidas’ focus beyond its 2024 recycled polyester goal.
MOVE FOR THE PLANET WITH ADIDAS MALAYSIA

Move For The Planet Walk
Kicking off the campaign’s series of on-ground activations is the Move For The Planet Walking Activation, exclusively hosted at Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall. Beginning on 1 June to 12 June, 2023, consumers who track a minimum of 20-minutes walk through the mall will be rewarded with a Move for the Planet premium, vouchers and more – subject to their final time tracked.
Move For The Planet Spin Session
The following day, the brand hosts its first workout activation for adiClub members of Level 1 – Level 4 in conjunction with the campaign; the Move For The Planet Spin Session. Hosted on 2 June, 2023 at Journey Indoor Cycling studio, the event will encompass two evening sessions featuring the most sought after spin classes amongst the local sport community.
Move For The Planet Golf Session
That weekend, Move For The Planet continues with adiClub-exclusive indoor golf lessons daily from noon onwards on 3 June – 4th June, 2023. Hosted at MST Golf Arena at The Gardens Mall, each of the Move For The Planet Golf Sessions will have consumers guided in groups of 4 through a fun-filled hour, discovering a rising sport of choice amongst younger masses; golf.
Move For The Planet Run
Finally, Move For The Planet’s series of activations closes off with a special adidas Runners Kuala Lumpur (ARKL) run designed to encourage the local running community to come together to champion sport for positive change. Set for 8 June 2023, runners will begin their run at the adidas Brand Center at Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur for an evening run under the Kuala Lumpur skyline.
Move For The Planet Gift With Purchase
In conjunction with the launch of Move For The Planet, consumers who purchase any apparel or footwear from the Parlay collection will also receive a complimentary Move For The Planet Own the Run t-shirt. Available from 1 June 2023 to 12 June 2023 at select adidas Performance stores across the Klang Valley.
adiClub Exclusive Passes to IN MOTION by W Hotel
Locally, three adiClub members that clock in the most time tracked on their adidas Running App from 1 June 2023 to 12 June 2023 in any of the 34 eligible sport types will also celebrate moving for the places they play with passes to IN MOTION. A fitness event by adidas’ brand partner; W Hotel, the getaway will reward the adiClub members and their plus ones with a holistic staycation inclusive of a luxury stay, meals as well as two days worth of fitness and wellness sessions from 24 June 2023 to 25 June 2023.Those who are interested can find out more about Move For The Planet on adidas Malaysia’s official Instagram and register through the adidas Running App or HERE to begin participating in the initiative.
