K-Masks : Pure Smile

Out of all the drugstores, I think that Watsons has the most variety of sheet masks. There are often new sheet masks available. Pure Smile is a range of Korean sheet masks which I’ve only seen at Watsons but if anyone has seen them at other drugstores, do please let me know.

All the Pure Smile masks are RM5.90 but I picked them up at a discount when they were RM3.45 each. By the time I got there, a few varieties such as Royal Jelly had already sold out which left me with rather slim pickings. I only managed to snag Rose Essence and Red Ginseng Essence.

Rose Essence Mask contains 1.2% of Rosa Centifolia Water and Red Ginseng contains 1.2% of Asian Ginseng Essence. I’m not sure what good 1.2% is, could be not much benefit at all. Bother masks claim to tighten up skin. Other than the Rosa Centifolia and Asian Ginseng Essence, they both contain more or less similar key ingredients.

The masks are not wrapped around any plastic sheet like Taiwanese masks. I’ve noticed that is a point of difference between Taiwanese and Korean masks. Without the plastic sheet, unwrapping the mask can be a bit tricky and time-consuming.

What’s the difference between these 2 masks? Well, the Red Ginseng Essence Mask had a stronger and longer lasting scent whereas the Rose Essence Mask had a milder scent. Both masks are very saturated with 23ml of essence and are good for almost an hour.

They both come with flaps which you can place over your eyes, very cooling if you’ve placed them in the fridge. There was no tightening effect nor much brightening effect for that matter. These are average moisturing masks. After I’ve taken them off, there is still enough essence on the mask to massage on to my face. I’d pay less than RM4 for each mask but not more.
