Having dined at Putien Sunway Pyramid, I was invited to Putien @ SS15 Courtyard. This is the latest Putien outlet which opened just a few weeks ago. It’s a lot more spacious and nicer than their Sunway Pyramid outlet and a more private dining area is available here.
I was keen to discover more of Putien as I find their cuisine rather unique, not easily available at other Chinese restaurants. Putien now offers small and in some cases, extra small sizes of their dishes to cater for groups of 2-3 persons. In this way, one can dine on more dishes.
Of course one must have the “yee sang” since it is available. Putien’s version has seaweed in it.
Stir-fried Yam (XS) @ RM11.90 – Putien uses only the centre and best portion of premium yam, they have such a golden crisp exterior while the interior is soft and has a melt-in-the-mouth texture.
These pork pieces (S) @ RM19.90 have been deep fried without a trace of oiliness. The sweet and sour sauce has the right balance of sweet and sour and the lychees lend more sweetness to the dish.
Shredded Meat with Bun @ RM6.50 a pc is still one of my favourites at Putien. The bun is best eaten while warm and absolutely fantastic with the shredded meat.
Stewed Sweet Potato Noodle (S) @ RM18.90 is great comfort food, the noodles are soft and springy. I could have a bowl of this every day whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Deep Fried Duck with Yam @ RM24.90 – while the yam is crisp and not oily, the duck was a bit too tough for me. I had one piece and gave up on the rest.
Spinach with Salted Egg & Century Egg in Supreme Stock @ RM17.90 is soft, tender and full of flavor. The spinach is first stir-fried on high heat, then stewed in supreme stock of salted and century egg.
Claypot Fish Soup (XS) @ RM24.90 – the fish is first deep fried, then boiled and simmered for hours. The sweetness of the fish together with yam and other ingredients are completely immersed in the broth. The soup is high in protein and omega-3.
Stewed Putien Beancurd in Claypot (S) @ RM16.90 – has an unusual taste for a beancurd dish, it has a smoky flavor as if it had been barbecued. I didn’t like it that much but those who love smoky flavors might just love this.
