When those first signs of ageing start to show such as fine lines, sagging skin, loss of firmness and luminosity, you know you seriously need anti-ageing skincare but most anti-ageing skincare is rather expensive and I’m sure no one wants to invest in a set of skincare priced at RM1k in total only to discover 2 weeks later that their skin condition hasn’t improved.
I’ve always been a believer that these days, drugstore brands offer good value-for-money skincare with results just as good as more expensive, non-drugstore branded skincare. I was just wondering which brand I should try to address my ageing issues when Avene very kindly offered me their new PhysioLift range last month and I have been using 4 of the PhysioLift products for the past 2.5 weeks but I’ll just review 3 of them first, namely the PhysioLift Precision Wrinkle Filler, PhysioLift Smoothing Day Emulsion & PhysioLift Night Balm.
PhysioLift Precision Wrinkle Filler 15ml/RM169
Highly concentrated with a trio of powerful actives, PhysioLift Precision smooths away wrinkles around the mouth, eye area and forehead in one simple click. The expanding formula settles in wrinkles and furrows precisely where needed, thanks to the fuss-free precision nozzle.
When I used it for the 1st time, I thought this was quite thick but then, it isn’t strictly speaking a serum. It is first and foremost a wrinkle filler so the texture would be thicker so that it settles into the wrinkles and furrow. From the 2nd use onwards, I’d gotten used to the texture and rather liked it because of the fast absorbency. I just wish there was more than 15ml in the bottle because I finished it all within 16 days! Avene recommends this for night use but I wanted fast results so I used it night and day. I’ll need 2 bottles for a month’s use. Actually, I don’t mind having a few bottles on standby!
PhysioLift Smooth Day Emulsion 30ml/RM149
PhysioLift Day Smoothing Emulsion is suitable for normal to combination skin. Ascofilline™ works deep into the layers of your skin to reach the collagen network, rebuilding the support structure of your skin, Hyaluronic acid fragments also work to re-plump and re-hydrate your skin. An added anti-oxidant, Pre-Tocopheryl boosts skin’s luminosity. The emulsion also targets dull skin and signs of fatigue.
Nice, light texture for a day cream. Good for hydrating skin and I did see re-plumping effects.
Night Smoothing Regenerating Night Balm 30ml/RM159
This balm works all night long to smooth the appearance of deep wrinkles and re-plump the skin. It detoxifies the skin and helps to eliminate signs of fatigue, rejuvenating lackluster skin and leaving skin feeling silky soft. Acofilline™, Hyaluronic acid mono-oligomers and retinaldehyde work to boost firmness, reduce deep wrinkles and smooth your features, creating a fresher look upon waking. Added antioxidant care comes from star ingredient hesperidin methyl chalcone, which detoxifies the skin whilst helping to improve microcirculation and protect the collagen network. Suitable for all skin types.
As this is a night moisturizer, it is thicker and richer than the smoothing emulsion. The Night Balm is the more potent of the 2 moisturisers as it does a good job in smoothing skin as well as increasing skin elasticity and firmness.
So let’s have a look at my “before” and “after” pics.
As you can see, there’s more drooping and sagging on the right side of my face with quite deep nasolabial lines especially below my lips.
I can see some restoration of skin suppleness especially on the right side of my face. I’d continue using Avene PhysioLift range as I am curious as to what the results will be after 1 month. This range is ideal for mature skins or for anyone with signs of premature ageing.
