Cranberries are one of my favourite berries as they’re so sweet and complement breads so well. How about cranberries in skincare? They’re actually a very healthy berry as they contain a number of compounds including flavonoids, proanthocyanidins and anthocyanins, linolenic and linoleic essential fatty acids and the polyphenol anti-oxidant, ellagic acid, which converts to tannins having both astringent and antiseptic properties. It also contains phytosterols, which contribute to the structure of the cell membrane improving the integrity of the skin barrier and preventing water loss.
