Youth And Sports Minister Sends-Off Dato’ Sri Dr. Vincent Tiew And YB Syed Saddiq, Former Youth And Sports Minister To Ironman World Championship 2025

KL Wellness City (KLWC) today hosted a high-spirited Sending-Off Ceremony in honour of Malaysian participants heading to the Ironman World Championship 2025, taking place on the 14 September in Nice, France — including Dato’ Sri Dr. Vincent Tiew and YB Syed Saddiq, who will represent Malaysia in this globally renowned endurance event.

Themed around three inspiring segments — The Road to Ironman World Championship, Partners in Motion, and Iron Hearts, the event celebrated not only the athletes but also KLWC’s commitment to wellness, community building and strategic partnerships.

The ceremony was officiated by YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, who commended KLWC for its active leadership in supporting sports and national wellness initiatives.
“Today’s celebration is not just about the race ahead, it is about the strength of unity, discipline, and community spirit. KL Wellness City is showing that wellness is more than a concept — it is something we live, support, and champion together,”— YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia’

“The Ironman World Championship is more than a race – it is a journey of resilience, discipline, and heart. As we represent Malaysia on this global stage, I am deeply honoured to carry not just my personal dream, but also the spirit of KL Wellness City and our nation. This is proof that with wellness, determination, and unity, nothing is impossible. My heartfelt gratitude goes to YB Hannah Yeoh and all our strategic partners for their unwavering support in making this journey and celebration possible.” – Dato’ Sri Dr Vincent Tiew, Executive Director of KL Wellness City.

The Road to Ironman World Championship
KLWC proudly sent off two inspiring individuals who have qualified for the prestigious Ironman World Championship in Nice, France 2025 namely:
– Dato’ Sri Dr. Vincent Tiew, Executive Director of KL Wellness City
– YB Syed Saddiq bin Syed Abdul Rahman, Former Youth and Sports Minister

Their qualification is a powerful reminder that determination and discipline can transcend demanding roles. YB Syed Saddiq, despite the rigours of political life, and Dato’ Sri Dr. Vincent Tiew, while managing a full-time corporate leadership role, have both committed to regular training and preparation. They are true examples of leaders who walk the talk — proving that wellness is not just a message to be shared, but a lifestyle to be lived.

This journey resonates strongly with KLWC’s vision: just as building a world-class wellness- driven development requires perseverance, consistency, and long-term commitment, so too does the pursuit of endurance sports. This milestone not only celebrates individual achievement but also reflects KLWC’s belief that wellness is a lifelong mission — one that empowers people to balance ambition, responsibility, and personal health.

Partners in Motion – A Tribute to Strategic Allies
KLWC also recognised its 13 strategic partners namely Kinohimitsu, COWA, Vanilla Crepe, Nisa Bakri, Daily Bekal, Famous Amos, O’ Briens, Thule, US Pizza, VIVO, Warrior Plunge, Impulse 4U and Sweat SPA for their unwavering support of the township’s wellness agenda including their contribution to public fitness initiatives, sports engagement and corporate wellness initiatives or programmes.

“It is truly inspiring to stand here today surrounded by passionate athletes, supportive partners, and dedicated leaders. The Ironman journey symbolises what KL Wellness City believes in pushing boundaries, living well, and doing it together. Thank you to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and all our partners who continue to believe in this shared vision,”— Dato’ Sri Dr. Vincent Tiew, Executive Director, KL Wellness City.

Iron Hearts – Celebrating KLWC’s Extraordinary Athletes
KLWC also honoured four remarkable individuals as part of the KLWC Athlete Team — Dr. Victor Chen, Teh Kuok Yuen, Ng Choon Keith (Malaysia Book of Records holder), and Jacquline Kaur (Malaysia Book of Records holder). Their achievements reflect KLWC’s long-term mission of championing wellness and setting new milestones that inspire the wider community. Each of them embodies resilience, strength, and the wellness values that KLWC upholds, standing as a testament to our commitment to nurturing athletes who reflect the true spirit of wellness and perseverance.

In today’s function, the KLWC Athlete Team now further adds on to its new pool of athlete including Miss Tan Hui Jin and Miss Ivoyne Ong Suat Fan. Both of them including Dato’ Sri Vincent Tiew will be taking on the cycling challenge from Dataran Bentong all the way up to First World Hotel, Genting Highlands on 3rd September 2025 under the event ‘ Genting KOM’.

The presence of all these extraordinary athletes at today’s ceremony — past trailblazers, record-setters, and this year’s qualifiers — symbolises the very purpose of KL Wellness City: to celebrate human perseverance, nurture wellness as a way of life, and inspire the nation towards greater achievements.

KL Wellness City: Looking Ahead to 2026
The event also highlighted KLWC’s ambitious development roadmap. By the second half of 2026, KLWC will unveil its iconic skyscrapers, including the KL International Hospital (KLIH) — a cutting-edge smart tertiary care hospital set to be a regional beacon for healthcare and medical tourism.

“As we prepare to welcome the KL International Hospital by the end of 2026, we remain committed to advancing a healthcare ecosystem that blends world-class treatment, innovation, and wellness living. Events like today remind us that health is not only about hospitals, but about people, community, and lifestyle,”— Dato’ Dr. Jacob Thomas, Executive Director, KL International Hospital
