CeraVe Officially Launches Blemish Control Range in Malaysia

Blemishes/acne are often regarded as a skin concern, but studies show the impact goes far deeper to the point of affecting quality of life, self-esteem, and even mental health. Globally, 58% of adolescents with acne report feeling stigmatised by their condition, with many citing negative effects on body image and confidence.

Depending on where acne appears, it can also affect social interactions and personal relationships. Even after active breakouts fade, scarring often remains, carrying long-term emotional and functional consequences.

CeraVe, a brand developed with dermatologists is reframing the conversation around blemishes and acne breakouts with the launch of its Blemish Control Range in Malaysia. The new range is designed to manage breakouts while protecting and restoring the skin barrier. This is achieved through a unique blend of salicylic acid, encapsulated retinol, niacinamide, and CeraVe’s signature three skin identical ceramides. Together, they help reduce blemishes, fade marks, and strengthen the barrier to prevent future irritation.

“Using the right combination of ingredients can be very beneficial for patients with acne. Salicylic acid gently exfoliates skin to unclog pores and reduce bumps. Ceramides then restore the skin barrier, which is essential to prevent ongoing sensitivity,” said Dr. Zareen, Dermatologist, KPJ Damansara.

“We know breakouts impact more than just appearance and the stigma is real. Our goal is to help consumers manage the full blemish cycle with products that combine dermatologist-trusted actives and barrier-strengthening care. That’s why our Blemish Control Range brings together retinol, salicylic acid, niacinamide, and our three essential ceramides,” said Natalie Goh, Marketing Director of L’Oreal Dermatological Beauty.

CeraVe’s new routine offers a solution for prevention, management, and restoration for both acne and post acne phase:

  • CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser: Gel-to-foam formula with 2% salicylic acid to unclog pores and treat blemishes, plus purifying clay to reduce excess oil without drying.
  • CeraVe Blemish Control Gel: A dual-action blend of AHA and BHA to exfoliate both the skin’s surface and within pores, leaving skin clearer and smoother.
  • CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum: Lightweight serum with encapsulated retinol to accelerate cell turnover, reduce post-acne marks, and refine skin texture. Due to its encapsulated function, it is a “slow release” retinol that woks within the layers of the skin and reduce any potential irritation to the skin that is normally seen with regular retinols.

All three products feature CeraVe’s three skin identical ceramides to restore and maintain the skin barrier, plus niacinamide to calm irritation and redness. At the launch event, CeraVe introduced Breakout Battle, a lively game-show style panel designed to make skincare education fun and accessible. Celebrity actor Aedy Ashraf and content creator Syasya faced off in a quiz while Dr. Zareen and Natalie Goh guided the audience with insights on acne causes, ingredient science, and skin barrier health.

The battle combined knowledge, storytelling, and personal experiences. Both Aedy and Syasya shared their journeys with breakouts and how they learned to overcome the prejudice often associated with acne. The fast-paced showdown ended with Syasya crowned as the first-ever Breakout Battle champion.

CeraVe is currently hosting a concourse event with Watsons Malaysia, where visitors can learn more about various skin conditions through the on-site consultants and try out the latest CeraVe Blemish Control Range on-site. Additionally, they can win exclusive CeraVe prizes when they take part in the Experience Zones. Visitors can drop by the CeraVe roadshow at the Blue Atrium, Sunway Pyramid Lower Ground Floor from 25th August to 1st September 2025.
