Taiwan IP Expo 2026 Returns To Malaysia With 12 Leading Character IPs

The 2026 Taiwan IP Expo in Malaysia returns from 20 – 24 May 2026 at Oasis Avenue, Sunway Pyramid, building on last year’s momentum with a stronger focus on cross-border collaborations, commercial opportunities and audience engagement.

This year’s edition brings together 12 curated Taiwanese character IPs, spanning themes from pet-inspired universes and feel-good everyday moments to contemporary design. Highlights include Kittensisland, one of the top-selling IPs at last year’s Malaysia debut; Takokuma, which has successfully expanded into Japan and Korea while growing its presence in Southeast Asia through original animation and storybooks; and Kuroro Space Exploration Team, a fan-favourite in Thailand known for its illustrated series and merchandise.

A key highlight of this year’s expo is the Taiwan–Malaysia IP collaboration, featuring 12 original collaborations between Taiwanese and Malaysian creators. Through a cross-cultural lens, these works reinterpret character IPs for new audiences, demonstrating how IPs can localise and evolve across markets while unlocking fresh commercial and creative potential.

Positioned as a platform for IP licensing and business development, the expo will also feature dedicated business matching sessions, connecting IP owners, creators and brands with regional buyers and partners. This highlights the growing role of intellectual property as a key driver of Southeast Asia’s creative economy.

Beyond its industry focus, the five-day event also offers a dynamic public experience. Visitors can explore interactive exhibition zones, IP showcases and merchandise offerings, alongside AR-powered installations, character mascot appearances and creator sharing sessions, stepping into the “Taiwan IP Universe” through immersive experiences.

Adding to the excitement, the expo will collaborate with Sunway Pyramid on a spend-and-redeem campaign, offering limited-edition collectible tote bags featuring participating IPs, available daily while stocks last.

Across five days, the expo presents a dual-track experience of brand building and business matching, positioning itself as a one-stop platform connecting Taiwan and Malaysia’s creative ecosystems. Industry players and the public alike are invited to be part of this vibrant celebration of IP innovation and collaboration.
