Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad (“PruBSN”), Malaysia’s Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) Initiatives Throughout Its Ramadan And Aidilfitri Campaign

Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad (“PruBSN”), Malaysia’s No.1 Takaful Family Operator for ten consecutive years, empowered the community with nationwide corporate social responsibility (“CSR”) initiatives throughout its Ramadan and Aidilfitri campaign. 721 volunteers among PruBSN staff and agents nationwide joined forces in a one-day community outreach programme that was held simultaneously across all 14 states in Malaysia.

Sharing the spirit of Ramadan through the act of giving, PruBSN’s volunteers in collaboration with Yayasan MyPrihatin (“YMP”), has cooked and distributed 12,000 packs of bubur lambuk to various locations including local mosque, madrasah and higher education institutions at all 14 states. Helping to create a comfortable environment, the volunteers also have dedicated their efforts to clean up the area within Tanah Perkuburan Islam Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur for the convenience of public’s visit during the upcoming Aidilfitri.

Chief Executive Officer of PruBSN, Wan Saifulrizal Wan Ismail stated,” We have accumulated over 4,000 volunteer hours throughout these initiatives. Here in PruBSN, we don’t just provide financial security to Malaysians but our staff and agents aspire to be a sustainability champion to provide assistance and foster positive changes within the communities and the environment.”

“Our CSR initiatives are part of our company’s ESG framework or sustainability agenda. As a takaful operator, our commitment towards sustainability resonates deeply with Islamic principles in alignment with the United Nation’s Sustainability Development Goals (“UNSDGs”). It embodies our strategic approaches to integrate economic, environmental and social values while upholding the ethical standards for more inclusive, equal and sustainable future,” he added.

PruBSN has sponsored takaful coverage for more than 148,000 underprivileged families since 2018 through its Microtakaful Jariyah initiative. One of the fund-raising activities is PruBSN’s signature Ramadan donation drive campaign, One Donation, One Family (“ODOF”). The ODOF campaign, which is already in its 5th year, aims to raise funds to provide 1-year free takaful coverage of RM 10,000 to the low-income group through the PruBSN Microtakaful Jariyah programme. PruBSN expected to make a collection of more than RM 60,000 for this festive season with collective contribution from staff, agents,
customers and public.

Expressing compassion and the value of mutual assistance behind the true meaning of “Ta’awun” as embedded in our takaful principles, PruBSN has released an emotional Raya video storytelling entitled “Kisah Raya Papa.” A dramatic story about a legacy left behind the virtues of Sadaqah Jariyah and a father’s unconditional love for his daughters staring famous celebrities Arash Mohamad, Aishah Azman, Mas Anizan and many talented figures.

Celebrating Aidilfitri while campaigning for a greener festivity, PruBSN has also collaborated with Pencetus Ummah (PU) Amin to deliver key messages about the importance of sustainability from the Islamic perspectives to the public. In addition, this year, PruBSN will be distributing “duit raya” with an exclusive edition of money packet produced from Forest Stewardship Council (“FSC”) certified paper. The certification is a testament of our commitment for environmental stewardship which include sustainable
forestry.

Last year, PruBSN introduced its first Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Fund known as Takafulink Dana ESG Global.Takafulink Dana ESG Global aims to strengthen sustainable growth which is expected to complement the UNSDGs and provides investors with a new method of responsible investment that supports the ESG movement by making a positive global impact.
