Yes, it’s that time of the year again when even if you aren’t collecting ang pows to give away, you might want to collect them to keep. I am only interested in collecting the ang pows from beauty brands. Last year, I showed you ang pows from Clinique, Estee Lauder and Shiseido. This time, it’s the same 3 brands. I don’t know of other beauty brands with ang pows so if you know of others, do let me know.
A quick assessment of this year’s ang pows from the 3 brands – Clinique’s and Estee’s this year doesn’t impress as much as last year’s. Estee’s has a geometric design with the words “Be Gifted” on it which is kind of appropriate, I suppose but kind of lacks the Chinese New Year feel. I like Clinique’s ang pow the least because the paper itself is the thinnest of the three and the design is just so-so.
The one that I like best is Shiseido’s because it’s much nicer and classier than last year’s multi-coloured ang pows and the paper is high quality, thick and looks/feels expensive. The size is smaller but that’s what sets it apart from the rest and makes it unique. The front of the packets is embossed with the brand’s camellia logo, beautiful! Well done this year, Shiseido.
