IIFA 2015 : Bollywood Rocks Kuala Lumpur

Aditi Rao Hydari performing at IIFA ROCKS

So you wouldn’t think I am a Bollywood fan, would you? However I do know quite a bit about Bollywood stars thanks to watching “Koffee With Karan” hosted by film producer and director, Karan Johar. From the famous Khans (Shah Rukhm Saif Ali, Farah) to beautiful and glamourous actresses like Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherjee, Deepika Padukone, Madhuri Dixit, Rakhi Sawant and Bipasha Basu, I have seen them being grilled by Karan and Karan is so funny with the Lie-O-Meter and Rapid Fire.

Last night I attended IIFA Rocks at Istana Budaya. The evening turned up the volume and enthralled audiences with a line-up of amazing performances by ace  musicians, rising talents and Bollywood stunners. The gorgeous Jacqueline Fernandez set the tone for the amazing night as she grooved to her popular songs Chittiyan Kallayiyan, Jumme Ki Raat  And Jadoo  Ki Jhappi – Ramaiya Vastavaiya to name a few. Following her, music  sensations Javed Ali and the Nooran Sisters mesmerised the audience with a  Sufi musical jugal bandi on some of the most famous songs by living legend A.R. Rahman. Right from the groovy Chaiyya Chaiyya to the edgy Patakha  Guddi, the spiritual- Khwaja Mere Khwaja and romantic Tum Tak the audiences were treated to the best work by the maestro.

Sonakshi Sinha at at IIFA ROCKS green carpet

For the first time ever, Bollywood’s leading actress, the beautiful Sonakshi  Sinha made her debut on the IIFA Rocks stage as a singer. Accompanied by Bollywood’s star performers Mika Singh and Nakash Aziz, Sonakshi’s performance joined the ranks of many first timers at IIFA. Taking the  audience back in time through, melodious lead vocalist Ankit Tiwari paid a  tribute to Bollywood’s Dancing Heroes- Shammi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and Govinda all in one power-packed act. Classics like Aaja  Aaja, Bar Bar Dekho, I am a Disco Dancer, Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare and Bachna Ek Haseeno leading fans on a nostalgic journey down the memory lane.

Other performers for the evening included the rising singing sensation KANIKA KAPOOR, Bollywood beauties Lisa Haydon, Lauren Gottlieb Aditi Rao Hydari, and a stunning Indo-Western act by the stunning Malaika Arora Khan set the stage on fire and left audiences asking for more.
