How To Drive Customers Away

emails

Sometimes I wonder if this practice of not replying text messages or emails is endemic only to this country. People here seem to find it difficult to reject someone and prefer to remain silent hoping the person who sent the text/email will forget all about the request.

Recently, I sent an email to the brand manager of a new shop asking if I could feature the shop. No reply to my 1st email and 2 weeks later, I wanted to give this person the benefit of the doubt. Maybe my email went to the person’s spam box? So the perverse streak in me made me send a 2nd email and I guessed the 2nd email would also be ignored. I was right. Is it so difficult to reply my email and say you’re not interested in me featuring your brand because it’s too posh for me? Really?

Then on another occasion, I sent an email to a brand manager asking for a price quotation for hair services. Hello, it’s not like I was asking for complimentary services in which case by all means, ignore my email but here I was willing to pay but again, no reply.

Yes I just love to give my fingers a nice workout by sending emails and as you all know by now, whatever I try out, even if I have paid for it, gets featured here so what has anyone got to lose? Is this blog so lousy that I can’t even get simple emails replied?

I can understand it if they didn’t reply because I am charging for each blog post (I wish!) or if I blog in such fractured English that it hurts to read but when I am giving free publicity (I don’t even request for free samples of products) and willing to pay for services at their establishment, I am puzzled as to why they ignore my emails and as I have said some where before, I don’t care if they send me a rejection email. It’s fine with me as I have loads of other blog posts to put up every day but I’d have a lot more respect for someone who replied my email with “Thank you for your kind offer but we regret to inform that we are unable to accommodate your request at the moment.” Now that’s a template they can all use to reject me, don’t you think?

How to drive (potential) customers away? Don’t reply my email and you’ve guaranteed that I’ll never ever be your customer. Of course, they’ll say they don’t need me as their brand will do very well without me. I am sure they have plenty of good excuses for not replying – no time, didn’t see the email, out of town (that’s been used before by a very resourceful brand manager who was basically telling me he’d read my email but couldn’t be bothered to reply). Fine then, another brand that goes on my blacklist. When I look at some of the people managing good brands here, it’s hard for me not to go *facepalm*.
