dscn98741Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Guardian Malaysia has drawn up plans to stay as the market leader. These plans were outlined by Mr. Soren Lauridsen, Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Health and Beauty Sdn. Bhd. at a press conference today, at The Weld, the location of Guardian’s first outlet in 1967 (then known as Weld Pharmacy).

Guardian aims to be a friend to its customers and to serve their needs, like a best friend would. In this regard, it is running an anniversary promotion, in partnership with Petron, Jotun, the Makeover Guys and Kuvings, that gives shoppers the opportunity to win a home makeover package. To participate, customers need to spend RM10 and above in a single receipt at any Guardian store, fill up personal details and answer three simple questions. Alternatively, spend at Petron stations a minimum of RM10 on RON95, RON97 or RON100 with a valid Petron Miles Privilege Card.

Following the press conference, Mr. Lauridsen relaunched the Guardian, Weld, now a store with a trading space of 1,652 square feet  and has just been re-furbished to sport the new look, in line with the rebranding of Guardian. The original store was just 200 square feet inside Weld Supermarket. The name was changed to Guardian Pharmacy in 1971, to reflect the caring and protecting nature that is linked to the inner and outer health offer that comes with a pharmacy.

For Guardian Malaysia, anniversaries are also traditionally celebrated by giving back to the community, through its Anniversary Charity Project. This year, it is continuing the tradition by helping 10 charity homes, including seven orphanages, around the country to get a makeover. The project, to be completed in six months’ time, is expected to help improve the living environment for at least 500 children in these homes.
