dsc_3116There’s a mooncake shopping spree going on at Mid Valley Megamall. I counted 3 locations within the mall and Gardens Mall where shoppers searching for mooncakes can definitely find their perfect mooncakes along with some very unique packaging. Good Chen is a shop specialising in Chinese pastries and biscuits. Their specialities are Heong Peah, Nanyang Biscuit, Tambun Biscuit and other childhood snacks of mine.

At Mid Valley’s South Court on the Ground Floor, you will find many mooncakes from hotels such as Westin, Renaissance, Hilton, Concorde (this one is especially popular as there was actually a queue at 11am today and they had boxes waiting to be collected!), Mandarin Oriental. Then I came upon Good Chen with their Hello Kitty mooncakes and packaging.

dsc_3113dsc_3118Firstly, there is a Hello Kitty Kitchen Tin Box @ RM89. This comes with four mooncakes of your choice (snow skin or baked but they MUST be the Hello Kitty mooncakes). The Snow Skin mooncakes consist of Premium Musang King Durian, Premium Chocolate, Macadamia and Cookies, Yam and Uji-Shi Matcha Red Bean With Cookies while the Baked Mooncakes consist of Durian Lave Mooncake (sold out when I was there), Chocolate Lava Cookies, White Lotus Double Yolk and Pandan White Lotus Single Yolk.

Secondly, there’s the Hello Kitty Travel Cooler Bag which I think is the best value at RM129 because you get to choose any 5 Hello Kitty mooncakes as stated above. Thirdly, there’s the Hello Kitty vanity box with mirror at RM139 but you can only choose 4 mooncakes. They were offering a 10% discount on these sets. I think the packaging makes these sets much more appealing than just your average mooncake box or tin.
