“Buka Puasa” buffets are the perfect opportunity for all races to indulge in local delicacies which we may not normally partake of. I love Malay cuisine as there are so many spices involved and the taste of each dish make my taste buds tingle with delight. At the Buka Puasa Buffet Fraser Residence Kuala Lumpur, the buffet spread is prepared by Executive Chef Mansor with over 20 years of experience in renowned hotels. He will introduce a buffet spread that features local specialties presented in “kampung-style” stalls and live cooking stations. The hotel’s culinary team will present over 100 traditional authentic Malay and local delights such as Nasi Briyani Gam, Gulai Kawah, Kari Kepala Ikan, Aneka Satay, Ikan Bakar, Kambing Panggang throughout Ramadan.
While you may find that the selection at this buffet isn’t as large as at other hotels offering Ramadan buffets, it’s quality over quantity here. The Malay cuisine is top-notch and I particularly enjoyed and recommend the Ayam Percik and Lamb Kurma (so tender with a rich and oh-so-yummy gravy which goes perfectly with rice). The Mussel with Tom Yam is also highly popular as the Tom Yam isn’t overly spicy and you get very meaty mussels.
Everyone was making a beeline for the roast lamb which I tried a few slices of but I thought it was slightly overcooked so some slices were tough.
The drinks were rather sweet for me and the cincau was too watery but the desserts are nice especially the pineapple jam tarts which I had ten pieces of as they are seriously addictive. They made me want to smuggle a few pieces out (I didn’t but the thought crossed my mind). There are also cakes and lots of local kuih to satiate any sweet tooth.
I’d say you get your money’s worth at this Ramadan buffet as the main courses are superb. If you love Malay cuisine, then you have to check out this Buka Puasa Buffet Fraser Residence Kuala Lumpur available from May 19 – June 13, 2018, 7pm to 10pm daily. The buffet promotion is priced at RM108 nett per adult and RM64 nett per child aged 4 – 12 years old. Early bird specials are offered at RM72 nett upon reservations made from April 15 – May 18, 2018.
