dscn02001Avenue K’s highly anticipated Japan Festival, which is making its return after a successful first run in 2015, kicks-off its second edition today. The 10-day Japanese themed festival brings shoppers the first-in-Malaysia experience with some of the products directly imported from Japan and exclusive brands ranging from beauty, food and beverage, lifestyle products and services at the Ground Floor Atrium and the main entrance of the mall from 12th to 21st May 2017.

Aimed at creating excitement and valued memories for all shoppers, Avenue K Japan Festival 2017 draws together new retailers and partnerships, specially curated for shoppers and connoisseurs of Japanese culture. Celebrating its very first authentic Japanese Festival, the enlarged scale of this year’s festival reflects the increased appreciation of shoppers for authentic Japanese culture and tradition.

Taking over the Ground Floor Atrium of Avenue K, the space is transformed into the famous Japanese street, complemented with wooden Japanese carts displaying authentic Japanese products decorated with cherry blossom, which is a ubiquitous symbol of Japan and frequently depicted in traditional Japanese culture and art. A traditional Japanese tea room takes center stage, featuring tatami mats. The tea room houses a full-sized ceremonial tea house and is decorated with Japanese hanging lanterns on a wooden structure, surrounding the space with a traditional Japanese atmosphere.

Throughout the festival, shoppers will get to relish in the traditions of the festival with a series of Japanese themed activities such as Japanese Drum, Japanese Dance, Japanese costume demonstration (patrons get to experience wearing a Yukata), live sushi and bento making, tea ceremony, MT Washi Tape creative workshop and many more.
