The highlight of day 4 of Malaysia International Fashion Week 2011 was Asia Magic Gala featuring (my very favourite Asian designer) Ashley Isham, Nue by Jonathan Liang. Khoon Hooi, Cacac and Gallo. Waiting in anticipation to see Ashley’s designs, I even forgot my hunger pangs. Never mind Zebra Square, I’d have gone anywhere just to watch an Ashley Isham show.

Ashley’s clothes moved me the way no other designer has been able to. The flowers in the model’s hair were just perfect to complement his clothes. I wish I could wear Ashley’s clothes for the rest of my life!

Ever since I read about Cacac in The Star, I have been intrigued as Lee Sinje’s evening gowns are the epitome of elegance and glamour. I know that Cacac offers a variety of accessories and casuals but it’s the long, floaty gowns that really got my attention.

This was my first introduction to Gallo by Thian which currently has 2 outlets, in Gardens Mall and Bangsar Shopping Centre, its flagship store. I found her designs rather whimsical and suitable for the young and possibly those still young-at-heart. Her Autumn Winter 2011 Collection is for both men and women and called “Foxy Foxy Boom Boom”.

According to Gallo’s press release, this season’s inspiration is derived from fox and starlight vision (which accounts for the white bushy tails on some of the models and galaxy print, acrylic stars and sequins on the clothes).

While Gallo by Thian’s mainstay material has always been silk, this time there are polyester, cotton, and organza to give the touch of perfection on women party and casual dresses, tops, shorts, and pants. Velvet garments also apply on women skirts which address romance and elegance. The compilation for this season embraces spirit of neon colors such as electric blue, turquoise, shocking pink and coral along with black and gold.

Let’s have a look at each designer’s collection now. My camera’s battery was exhausted at the end of Gallo’s show so I didn’t manage to get a single shot of Khoon Hooi’s show. Such a pity as that’s another local designer I have admired for a long time.
