Growing up, I listened to a lot of ABBA’s music on radio and I also had a LP which my dad bought for me. ABBA along with Boney M were bands that were very popular in those days and even today, the music of ABBA remains well known and loved by all, regardless of age.
ABBA disbanded in December 1982 and I bet some of you weren’t even born then. A few days ago, a press conference was held to announce a series of performances by ABBA tribute band, Gimme Gimme ABBA from the UK. Present at the press conference was YTM Tunku Panglima Besar Kedah Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, chairman of Yayasan Sultanah Bahiyah, a charitable organization, named after the founder and first patron Almarhum Tuanku Sultanah Hajjah Bahiyah Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman. Also at the press conference were H.E. Vicki Treadell, British High Commissioner to Malaysia, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Haji Azizan Bin Noordin, Deputy Director General, International Promotion, Tourism Malaysia, Y. Bhg. Datuk Wan Ahmad Muazzam Bin Wan Ismail, PMW., SDK., AMK., BKM., PJKA., CEO Seri Panglima Sdn Bhd and Dato’ Nicholas Pinder, D.I.M.P., Homme Productions PLT.
Gimme Gimme ABBA will recreate the magic that was ABBA from 17th – 20th May 2016 at 8pm at The Gardens Theatre and there will be a Royal Charity Gala Outdoor Concert on 21st May 2016 at 7.30pm at Keriang Hill, Mukim Gunung, Alor Star, Kedah.
