Noodles are like a comfort food, we can have them any time of day from breakfast to supper and one of the local favourites has to be noodles with wonton or wantan (some spell it differently). A few doors away from my favourite satay restaurant in Damansara Utama is Tzuk Sheng Lao who serve bamboo noodles.

Tzuk Sheng Lao is a sister restaurant of the famous Nippy Noodles but while Nippy sells noodles made from chicken eggs, Tzuk Sheng Lao’s are made from duck’s eggs. The waiter obviously knows all his regulars because as soon as we were seated, he asked if we were first-timers and proceeded to recommend several dishes.

We ordered the Hong Kong style wonton and bamboo noodles, available in small and big at RM8.50/10.40 respectively. There are 6 wonton in the big bowl which taste okay, just not that memorable and while the noodles had the right springy consistency, I can’t say I particularly loved the taste.

Also ordered a small bowl of mixed vegetable, prawn and pork dumplings (5 pieces/RM10) which again was not that memorable, let’s just say I have had better from the neighbourhood coffee shop. However, they don’t stinge on the ingredients.

What I did like very much was this dessert which is only available on weekends.
