Shamrock Run Malaysia 2025 Celebrates Culture Of Ireland And Malaysia

The Malaysian Irish Alumni Association in collaboration with the Embassy of Ireland in Malaysia yesterday launched the Shamrock Run Malaysia 2025, slated for Sunday 29 June 2025 at Taman Wetlands, Putrajaya from 7am.

The launching of Shamrock Run Malaysia 2025 was graced by Her Excellency Orla Tunney, the Ambassador of Ireland to Malaysia, and was held at O’Briens Irish sandwich Cafe, UOA Damansara II.

In her remarks, Her Excellency embraced the growing trend of runners in Malaysia, especially in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, in supporting a run that celebrates the friendship of Ireland and Malaysia. Ambassador Tunney welcomed the return of the shamrock Run after a five-year hiatus due to COVID19, and encouraged runners to register now to ensure that they secure a spot for this not-to-be-missed event.

“The Shamrock Run Malaysia 2025 brings both the people of Ireland and Malaysia together, fostering strengthening relationships and friendship at a practical level, while promoting physical health and well-being,” she further added.

In addition, present at the launch was Hafidz Kosai bin Mohd Zihim, the President of the Malaysian Irish alumni Association and the Managing Director of O’Briens Irish Sandwich Cafe, Mr. Brian Pua.

Also seen lending support to Shamrock Run Malaysia 2025 was Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim, with her roots tracing back to Ireland.

This will be the 6th Shamrock Run since its inception in 2014. It is a non-competitive leisurely run to instill health awareness and promote bonding for families and friends. Each runner will be given an event T-shirt, running bib and a collectors’ finisher medal, with interesting design and motives. Prizes will be given to best dressed runners in Shamrock, Irish and Malaysian motives.

There are two categories of the run, the 10km and 5km and are open to all with T-shirt provided for kids sizes and Adults sizing up to 6XL, with strollers and children much welcomed. The route will pass leafy and green surroundings of Taman Wetlands, Putrajaya.

Participation fees for each runner is RM68.25 for 10km and RM52.50 for 5km.
