Ole Henriksen Truth Crème™ Advanced Hydration

You all know how from time to time beauty brands have road shows and you can have a complimentary skin analysis with their machine which scans your pores and so on? Well each and every time, I’ve gone for such skin analysis, I’ve been told (among other things) that my skin’s severely dehydrated for my age group. No matter how many types of hydration serums I go through, the results has always been the same so much so I’m dreading getting my skin analysed.

Ole Henriksen Truth Crème™ Advanced Hydration – the name speaks for itself. This is a tub of moisturizer that promises optimal hydration while delivering anti-aging benefits, supporting healthy collagen, promoting healthy cell turnover, eveningskin tone and eliminating the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I know, I know….doesn’t every other moisturizer promise more or less the same results?

What are the key ingredients, one might ask? There are 4 key ingredients:-

Advanced Hydration Complex™ – Impacts effective hydration in 5 different ways :

  • Promotes synthesis of natural hyaluronic acid in the epidermis.
  • Deposits biomimetic ceramides to enhance the functionality of the lipid moisture barrier in the epidermis.
  • Contains nourishing essential fats (sunflower, jojoba and macadamia nut oil) to improve moisture retention.
  • Improves flow of moisture from the dermis to the epidermis.
  • Protects fibroblasts (responsible for collagen synthesis) in the dermis from dehydration enabling them to function properly and further strengthen skin and improve resilience.

Tri-Peptide 5 – Stimulates collagen synthesis to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles.

Multi-Fruit Extract – Fruit Acids to facilitate healthy cell turnover.

Vitamin C – Calms, heals and strengthens collagen as well as naturally lightens, brightens and tightens.

I have been using this light textured crème a few times a week for the past couple of months. The reason I don’t use it everyday is two-fold:-

  1. The scent of Ole Henriksen’s signature citrus orange and vanilla is nothing short of overwhelming. I haven’t gotten used to it yet. Generally, I consider myself as having above average tolerance for scented skincare products but this one just hits me in the face and knocks me out temporarily. It stays on my hands for a long time.
  2. It’s super-duper rich even though it isn’t thick. It’s more suitable for night use as it can get greasy during the day especially if you have oily skin.

The fact that it’s in a tub isn’t one of the reasons I use this only on occasion but I’d have preferred if it came in a pump bottle. My hands are already a little greasy after applying it on my face and then I have to touch the cover, get what I mean?

Now for the plus points:-

  1. Extremely hydrating and I can feel how smooth my skin is for a long time. They aren’t joking about the Advanced Hydration. This is one of the most hydrating moisturizers I have ever laid hands on.
  2. There is a glow effect in that my skin is brighter and has a less dull appearance.
  3. Despite what I said about the slight greasiness, it absorbs into skin readily.

This is a top quality moisturiser which should improve the moisture retention of even the driest of skins. I haven’t seen any firming benefits yet but then again, I don’t use this everyday. A good moisturiser to have if you can get over the strong scent. However, it may be a little too rich for oily skins (that’s just my opinion!).

Available exclusively at Sephora at RM159/50ml.
