YBrs. Dr. Tan Awang Besar, Division Secretary (Culture) of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) officiated the annual Malaysian Fashion, Modelling and Pageant Awards (MFMPA) 2022 alongside Prof. Dr. Md Nasir Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), where 60 ambassadors representing the respective industries were called upon to illustrate Malaysia’s diverse cultures, traditions, and talents on a global scale.

Organized by Miss Malaysia Kebaya (MMK), the MFMPA 2022 aims to promote the best of what Malaysia has to offer by recognizing significant contributors to fashion, modeling, and pageantry. In doing so, they intend to generate a tremendous demand for Malaysian talents, products, and services across the globe by leveraging the influence of local ambassadors that were recognized at the main event.

Having announced its expansion to the ASEAN region for its next edition, the MFMPA 2022 will serve as a benchmark for MMK to spearhead the industry by popularizing local industry players in the neighboring countries. This ultimately enables other countries to utilize Malaysia’s best offerings, thus, creating more opportunities for local players across numerous fields.

A total of 60 individuals and companies were awarded at MFMPA 2022, among them are DJ Leng Yein, Jang Han-Byul, Wani Kayrie, Adeline Tsen, Asyraf Nasir, Pong Pong, and Kid Inn, who displayed exceptional performances throughout the year. Apart from that,  Nicsmann, Dking, MD Pharma, and D’Tandoor were also awarded for their innovative efforts and contributions to the industry.

Prof. Dr. Md Nasir Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), commented saying, “Moving forward in 2023, FINAS is working hard to export our local talents and content overseas to showcase our stunning cultures, traditions, and the overall beauty of Malaysia. I believe that Malaysia is not far from reaching its full potential, and we are delighted to have endeavors such as MFMPA that could nurture and grow the industry through various means. Ambassadors of MFMPA play the crucial role of representing Malaysia on an international scale, and I am very excited to see the positive outcome that we can bring as one nation, working together.”

“We aim to continue pushing boundaries to promote Malaysia as a venue of tourism with the activities we have all year round. As we collaborate with Vietnam and the Philippines this year, I cannot wait to start working with other neighboring countries in the following year to develop the local fashion industry, and the supporting segments.” Dr. Jason Hee, President and Founder of Malaysian Fashion, Modelling and Pageant Awards (MFMPA) concluded.

In conjunction with the Lunar New Year, beautiful traditional cheongsams were donned by the female guests to usher in the Year of the Rabbit. A lion dance ceremony was also held at the beginning of the evening to bring prosperity and joy to celebrate the upcoming year of successful achievements. During the event, a Chinese New Year Fashion and Talent Show was also organized to put Malaysian traditional Chinese costumes on display.

Ghapar, Senior Director, International Promotions (America, Europe & Oceania) of Tourism Malaysia; Datuk Rashidi Hasbullah, Former Secretary-General of MOTAC; Datin Winnie Loo, President of Branding Association of Malaysia and Bon Zainal, renowned local fashion designer, among others.
