Miss Universe Malaysia Launches Official Call For Entry With Upper Age And Marital Status Requirements Lifted

Ms. Eleen Yong, MUMO’s new National Director, delivering her speech

The Miss Universe Malaysia Organization (MUMO) has announced new entry requirements for Miss Universe Malaysia to create a more inclusive and empowering platform for women. In a press conference held today at MYEG Tower, Eleen Yong, MUMO’s new National Director, launched the official call for entry for Miss Universe Malaysia 2024. She also revealed the abolition of the upper age limit and the acceptance of women who are married, divorced, and mothers into the competition.

These revolutionary changes mark a significant departure from past rules, which restricted participation to single, unmarried women aged 28 or under. MUMO is proud to be a part of this transformative change, listening to Malaysians and taking decisive steps to be more inclusive.

The Miss Universe Malaysia competition provides a unique platform for ambitious Malaysian women to showcase their talents, intelligence, and beauty while advocating for important causes. The winner will serve as an ambassador representing our nation on the global Miss Universe stage. With the new entry requirements, MUMO invites the stage to women from diverse ages, backgrounds and experiences, reshaping the landscape of beauty pageants in Malaysia.

Eleen Yong, a distinguished figure in the fashion industry and a former Miss Malaysia International Model 2009 winner, brings her extensive experience and passion for empowerment to her new role as National Director. With a successful career that includes walking runways in major fashion capitals like Milan and choreographing high-profile events such as the Bonia Fashion Show and Mrs. Tourism Queen International World, Eleen  Yong is set to revitalise and revolutionise the pageant.

Reflecting on her new role, Eleen Yong shared during her speech, “We are excited to introduce fresh concepts that will elevate this prestigious event to new heights. Our vision is to empower and celebrate the incredible women of Malaysia, showcasing their talents, intelligence, and beauty on a global stage. We believe in the power of this platform to transform lives and inspire future generations.”

Representing Malaysia at Miss Universe will provide contestants with an opportunity for significant personal growth and extensive professional prospects while showcasing local Malaysian culture on the global stage. Past winners of Miss Universe Malaysia have gone on to secure lucrative modelling contracts, collaborate with international brands, and advocate for important social causes. They have also gained invaluable experience in public speaking, media relations, and personal branding, paving the way for diverse career opportunities in entertainment, fashion, and philanthropy.

With the official announcement of the call for entry for Miss Universe Malaysia, all eligible women aged 18 and above are encouraged to seize this opportunity to showcase their talents, intelligence, and commitment to making a positive impact.

As Miss Universe Malaysia 2024 unfolds, the event promises to be a beacon of inspiration and empowerment for Malaysian women. Under the dynamic leadership of Eleen Yong, the competition is on its way to breaking new ground. The journey to the crown begins now as MUMO invites all eligible women to step forward and embrace this life-changing opportunity.
